Causes: Health, Rehabilitative Care
Mission: The organization provides a free program of unique horsemanship, wellness, and skill-set restructuring to all post-911 veterans of operation iraqi freedom, operation enduring freedom-afghanistan, operation new dawn, and current conflicts, as well as active military personnel who have sustained post-traumatic stress disorder, combat trauma, or physical injuries during their time serving our country.
Programs: Hands-on programs include cowboy up! , a program that provides horsemanship, wellness, and skill-set restructuring free to post-911 combat-wounded and ptsd-rated veterans, aiding in their post-traumatic healing resilience. The program is self-paced and objective/ outcome-based and is both a day program for regional veterans and a residential program for participating veterans from out of state and across the country. The program is self-sustaining with program graduates serving as a cadre with the all-volunteer instructor staff. Approximately 9,600 hours of sessions and veteran activities were provided. Wisdom for warriors is our hybrid life skills coaching program, originally exclusively for women veterans, now integrated with our cowboy up! Program as well as individual coaching sessions. Veteran participant families personal retreats - veterans who have participated in the cowboy up! Program were then allowed to participate in a personal family retreat, individually designed for their families' post deployment needs. Seven retreats were conducted in 2017, each a week long in duration. Native american students (40) participated in a ranch skills and horsemanship program conducted by our veteran cadre and participants. These students were the family of new mexico veterans and active reservists.
