Programs: La familia medical center is a federally qualified health center offering high quality comprehensive medical, dental, behavioral health, case management, obstetrics and health education services to everyone, with special emphasis on the underserved and homeless. These services are affordable, culturally sensitive, and delivered in a manner respectful of patients' privacy, rights, and dignity, regardless of their financial resources. Special programs include prenatal health services and education, immunizations, nutrition counseling, obesity and diabetes education, medication assisted treatment for opioid addiction, family planning services, breast and cervical cancer screening, counseling and dental services for elementary school children and hiv-positive patients.
As an elderly person with a fixed Iinome near the poverty line I depend on La Familia for my basic health care. I don't own a car, but can easily walk or ride my bike to the downtown location. I really appreciate the fact that La Familia's bilingual staff welcomes people from underserved communities, especially our Spanish-speaking neighbors. Without La Familia, I would feel like there was a hole in the fabric of our community that they have been serving for more than 50 years.
I am a new patient at La Familia Medical Center. In my 72 years, I have never encountered a more professional, caring service of any kind. The staff members here really know their jobs, and they convey that knowledge clearly, pleasantly and promptly. This includes all the staff I have interacted with from the business side to the clinical side.
