Mission: In the fight to prevent and aid in the recovery from homelessness, inspire Hope and empower self-sufficiency.
Results: To date our Day Shelter receives 40-65 Guests per day and serve a combined total 80-150 carry out/dine in meals per day. 25-40 Guests visited our Giving Room, and 30 Guests utilize our Mailbox Service. 6-15 Guests engaged in our daily discussion/support groups and Bible Study, and all Guests participated in some form of leisure/extracurricular activity. 5-12 Guests visited our Resource Center daily to use our computers, receive information on and/or assistance with connecting to alternate community support services, and/or met with Representatives from outside resources. We connected 15 Guests to a local homeless/domestic violence shelter, and each month 5-11 Guests reported reconnecting with their family, being employed, and/or remained committed to their recovery program(s).
Target demographics: Our primary focus is to provide services to the homeless/at risk of homelessness, underserved and underprivileged populations in Rome, GA/Floyd Co. Our primary goal is to provide a multitude of support services in a single setting.
Direct beneficiaries per year: On an average our Day Shelter received 30-50 Guests per day, served a combined total 70-120 carry out/dine in meals per day. 15-30 Guests visited our Giving Room, and 18 Guests utilized our Mailbox Service. 3-11 Guests engaged in our daily discussion/support groups and Bible Study, and all Guests participated in some form of leisure/extracurricular activity. 4-8 Guests visited our Resource Center daily to use our computers, receive information on and/or assistance with connecting to alternate community support services, and/or met with Representatives from outside resources. We connected 15 Guests to a local homeless/domestic violence shelter, and each month 2-4 Guests reported reconnecting with their family, being employed, and/or remained committed to their recovery program(s). By the end of 2021 approximately a dozen reported having successfully recovered from homelessness. We believe this number is higher but is based on Guests that remained connected to Hope’s House.
Geographic areas served: Rome, Georgia
Programs: Hope’s House provides Day Shelter and Resource Center services. Our Day Shelter provides a safe place for our Guests to shelter away from negative influences and inclement weather, receive meals, and participate in healthy social engagements, leisure and extracurricular activities, discussions and support groups designed to inspire Hope and empower self-sufficiency. Our Day Shelter’s Giving Room offers Mailbox Services, thus providing our Guests with a legal address and is stocked with supplies to aid our them in meeting their basic living needs, including but not limited to personal hygiene items and laundry supply supplies; Seasonal supplies (blankets, sleeping bags and winter wear; umbrellas and rain ponchos; hand sanitizer, Kleenex, Chapstick, sunscreen, etc.). Our Resource center provides computers with Internet to apply for jobs. housing, Government benefits; Education on and connection to alternate community support services as needed; Collaborate with Representatives from Organizations (Haven Support Services), Companies (Cigna Healthcare, Assurance Wireless), and Volunteers (Mauricia Pledger, certified life coach provides Life Management Classes) that meet with our Guests 1-4 times a month, thus meeting our "Single Setting" support goal. In addition, Pastor Buice has Bible Study at Hope’s House, has a Shower Trailer housed at Hope's House, and provide showers twice a week.
