Mission: Formed in 2001 by four lesbians with roots in street activism, plus experience in journalism, the internet industry, and education, Homocom uses media, art, and literature to change the way societies see lesbian, gay, bi, and transgender (lgbt) people, and the way lgbt people see themselves, and to inspire lgbt action for social change for the good of all. Homocom facilitates lgbt community-building by disseminating cultural and organizational resources and knowledge, both between and within diverse lgbt communities locally and internationally, and between lgbt people and others working for social justice and democracy. Homocom especially emphasizes media's role in politics and social change.
