Mission: Homesight is a non-profit community development corporation that promotes affordable homeownership opportunities through three key interrelated program areas: community development, real estate development, and homebuyer services and lending.
Programs: Real estate development: homesight sold out a 102-unit condominium project, the pontedera, in southeast seattle in 2014, with nearly 50% of the sales to low income buyers. Homesight built and sold 8 single family residences in the greenbridge community in white center area in partnership with the king county housing authority in 2014, with 100% of the sales to low income buyers. Homesight provided project management services to the eritrean community and the city of seattle for the development and improvement of a multi-cultural community center in 2014, and managed the rehab and replacement of 14 mobile homes in a low-income senior community in partnership with the housing authority of snohomish county in 2014.
homebuyer services & lending: homesight's homebuyer program services over 1,000 households annually, including new and existing clients. In 2014, 79% of the counseling clients were at or below 80 percent of the area median income. Homesight's mission is to serve primarily low and moderate income buyers, but as a hud- certified counseling agency, it cannot discriminate based on income. Its homebuyer services program consists of one-on-one counseling, and no-cost classes on achieving the dream of homeownership. For the past 3 years, homesight provided for closure counseling services in response to the foreclosure crisis in its service area. The number of requests for foreclosure counseling service began declining in 2014, and homesight has discontinued this service. In 2014, homesight completed the second year of the washington homeownership stability fund in partnership with the washington state housing finance commission. Homesight provides rescue loans to borrowers who are capable of sustaining homeownership if they are reinstated before the foreclosure.
community development: homesight is actively involved in the development of community organizations, facilitating beautification and infrastructure improvement projects and community building activities through its community development program. Homesight has managed the development of local cultural centers, and currently supports several local business associations. Homesight is a chartered member of the neighborworks community building and organizing (cb&o) initiative.
