Causes: Adult Education, Education, Literacy, Remedial Reading & Encouragement
Mission: The mission of the hollywood education and literacy project (h. E. L. P. ) is to eradicate illiteracy and empower the individual to become a competent, independent learner with sound communication skills that make it possible to succeed in life.
Programs: H. E. L. P. Delivers free tutoring, remedial reading and math, assistance with homework, and effective delivery of a phonics program to students ages 9 to adult, subject to a nominal registration fee. Students receive training on how to study and learn, how to use a dictionary for greatest understanding, and the proper application of basic grammar. H. E. L. P. Teaches its volunteers how to effectively tutor in exchange for their tutoring time. H. E. L. P. Delivered 10,424 hours of free tutoring to the public between july 1, 2013 and june 30, 2014.
