Mission: The Hikari Institute is a Hawaii non-profit corporation and federally tax exempt organization under Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(3). Hikari, means 'light' in Japanese (the light itself rather than a source such as a candle or bulb). The Hikai Institute has two divisions: The Hikari Dojo (www.HikariDojo.com), a family-oriented, traditional Karate dojo, and the Hawaii Karate Seinenkai (www.Seinenkai.com), a Karate research and educational organization with the following goals:
To encourage the practice of Karate by young people.
To foster peace and health through Karate training and education.
To encourage research and journalism about Karate.
To preserve the legacy of and salute Hawaii's Karate pioneers.
To establish a Hawaii Karate Museum.
To maintain the connection of Karate to the community.
To maintain the place of Karate as an important aspect of Okinawan culture.
This organization's nonprofit status may have been revoked or it may have merged with another organization or ceased operations.
