Mission: The organization, run and managed by former refugees, helps new arrivals in the country adapt to the challenges that arise from leaving a region of conflict and violence, and arriving to a new life in the us. Heal offers culturally competent assistance for refugees who need access to healthcare housing, legal services and education. We provide educational programs for adults and youth to help with learning english, navigating social services, and conflict resolution.
Programs: Raised funds to help the 36 families whose homes were destroyed by criminal arson. We financially supported the victims, while helping to find replacement homes, temporary shelter, as well as clothes and necessary supplies.
summer youth program and youth education services - provided two teaching staff, supplies, andadministrative support to summer programs with more than 73 refugee andimmigrant youth through a program sponsored by both the city of buffalo,mayor's office, and the buffalo employment training center. Provided quality, holistic services which guide refugee/immigrant youth toward success with mentors and counselors assistrefugee/immigrant parents and schools with advocacy, interpretations,problem solving assistance, and cultural consultations.
case management/conflict resolution - provided assistance in dealing with family crisis, conflicts with law enforcement, access to social services, and advocacy for clients seeking healthcare.
