Mission: We provide an alternative education mentoring program to one hundred youth per year in an after-school setting 3pm to 6pm daily to ADD/ADHD/LD, abused and neglected children, ages 5 to 17 that lives with drug and/or alcoholic abusive parents in zip code 75216 of the Oak Cliff/South Dallas community. Our goal is to reduce the problem of illiteracy, drug abuse, teen pregnancy, child abuse and youth delinquency within our community. Our recruitment is from door-to-door, we are a safety net and lifesaver for students who normally would drop out of school. Due to their low income all of our students qualify for the National School Free Breakfast and Lunch Program.
Programs: Our programs include The Reading Hospital, Teen Car Makers and School-To-Work Construction Skills Classes that improves academic ability, instills leadership skills, discipline, respect, and commitment for self-improvement through coping skills, behavior modification, peer instruction, tutoring, career shadow-ships, entrepreneurial projects, and sport leadership camp. These programs aid in preparing each student in becoming a contributing member of society.
