Mission: Habitat for humanity buffalo establishes partnerships among god's people to give a helping hand to families who otherwise would be unable to achieve their dream of ownership of a simple decent house in a safe environment.
Programs: The organization works in partnership with people in need to build and renovate decent, affordable housing. The houses are sold to prequalified famililes, who repay an interest-free, 30-year mortgage financed by habitat buffalo. Families are required to contribute 500 hours of "sweat equity". Habitat buffalo has provided decent, safe, affordable homes for 1,296 people, including 832 children, with an additional 18 families working towards their "sweat equity".
habitat buffalo operates two restore locations in the city of buffalo. The buffalo restore program provides an environmentally friendly option to unwanted property, provides a source of quality household goods, construction materials, and furniture at affordable prices, and fulfills volunteer experiences and community development through volunteer engagement. The restore program contributed $109,659 toward construction of habitat homes while providing 200 unique volunteer opportunities during the period ending june 30, 2017.
