Mission: The H Street Main Street organization is working to restore the economic and social vitality of one of Washington's oldest historic retail corridors through promotion, economic restructuring, design, and organizational capacity. The group is working to change the perception of H Street for visitors, neighbors, investors, and potential business owners and to help realize a new vision for the H Street corridor.
Programs: HSMS has strategic partnerships with the Washington Area Community Investment Fund to program business resources for merchants; conducts monthly street cleanups using volunteers; co-sponsors a weekly farmers market June-October; collects data and information on the merchant pool, demographics, and other information; and helps build consensus with community leaders, business owners, and city agencies to work toward a common goal.
