Mission: Grizzly peak fly fishers mission is to enhance the fly fishing experience through education, fly fishing outing fellowship, skills development, and environmental awareness.
Programs: Grizzly peak fly fishers ("gpff") provides educational programs through speakers at monthly club meetings, participation in local events where flyfishing skills are demonstrated, and instructional programs during the year. All of these events are open to the public at no charge. Gpff has a major fundraising dinner and auction each year which raises money for nonprofit organizations involved in conservation, ecology, and fishery protection and restoration. Gpff is able to give annual grants to about ten nonprofits as a result of its fundraising activities. In addition, casting for recovery for women who are breast cancer survivors is a major focus for gpff. Gpff provides services to the trout in the classroom program conducted by the state of california, department of fish and game. Club members build aquariums for this educational program, which allows school children to follow the development of trout eggs into fry, which are then released into local waters. Club members act as a resource and support the teacher participants in the program. Gpff teams with c. A. S. T. For kids foundation in organizing and hosting events that provide disabled and disadvantaged children with the opportunity to enjoy recreational fishing. Gpff members provide instruction in fly tying and flycasting to members of the boy scouts of america, troop one, piedmont, california who are pursuing a flyfishing merit badge.
