Causes: Emergency Assistance, Human Services
Mission: The gridiron greats assistance fund's mission is to assist retired nfl players who are in dire health and financial distress by providing a means to regain a semblance of dignity and quality of life that every human being deserves. The fund will support grant applicants through a series of conventional and nonconventional fundraising efforts while calling attention to those in need through partnership programs, licensing efforts, and public relations events with the set goal of expanding the fund's assets through partnerships with the national football league and the national football league players association and alumni.
Programs: The gridiron greats assistance fund provides funds for medical, shelter, or other basic needs to and on behalf of retired national football league players and their immediate families who are indigent, in poverty, or have medical needs beyond their ability to pay. During 2017 the fund worked with seven facililites to provide pro bono medical care for retired players and also began building a program to provide pro bono dental and eye services.
the gridiron greats assistance fund raises awareness of the significant needs of the many retired national football league players who are struggling financially due to injuries incurred while playing in the league. The fund hopes a long-term solution for these players can be established by raising this awareness.
