So you want to call yourself a "rescue"?
Let's start with this, "We severed ties with Chicago English Bulldog Rescue several years ago because they were in flagrant violation of our guidelines and rules. We have no affiliation with them.", direct quote from Bulldog Club of America Rescue Network. Don't believe it? Email them yourself! rescuebulldogs.org
I've been involved with dog rescue for over 10 years and I have NEVER before witnessed such disgusting and pure evil intentions from a so called "rescue" group. If you're looking to volunteer, foster, or adopt - LOOK ELSEWHERE. This group will bait and switch you, leaving the cops at your door and tears in your eyes. Don't think you can treat your volunteers with such cruelty and not have someone step up and address it, even if those former volunteers are too kind, devastated, and hurt to say anything... but I witnessed what you did first hand. Especially when you try to coerce them into signing a legal document that they will not discuss this incident or bad mouth the rescue...nice try. You deserve far worse than an accurate portrayal of your reckless abandonment of common decency, rules, and rescue spirit. Go ahead and take down your Facebook reviews...it's obvious you're hiding and attempting to prevent the public from knowing the truth about your auction bought dogs (ask Bulldog Club).
First, they charge a ridiculous $1200 to adopt a puppy. This is not in the spirit of rescue, this is in the spirit of PROFIT. Each dog's adoption fee is typically set to ensure a good home for the dog. In other rescues, this fee rarely, if ever, covers the cost of the vet care the group provides for the dog. That is the spirit of rescue. You fundraise to cover costs. You don't set absurd adoption fees claiming to cover the vet care of other dogs in your program or anything else. This unaffordable fee does not promote rescue, it promotes going to the local petstore, buying a dog, and contributing to more dogs needing rescue. They'll tell you to look at other bulldog rescues, they're doing it. If they jumped off a bridge would you CEBR? How about you set an example if that truly is the case and save the lives of more bulldogs.
Let's talk adoption...the goal of this rescue seems to be to avoid placing bulldogs into good homes. If you've never owned a bulldog before you won't stand a chance. So what do those folks that have researched the breed and want a bulldog do? I'll tell you. They hightail it down the street to the local petstore after feeling embarrassed and ashamed that they aren't good enough to adopt from you. Now another bulldog ends up in a petstore to replace the one they bought instead of another rescue dog going to a loving home so another dog in a shelter can take it's place.
Beware of the so called President. She's the President of Hatefulness. If she doesn't like you, you will suffer. And you will suffer tremendously. When people are this mean and unnecessarily aggressive they need to look inside. The leaders in this group need to assess what's wrong inside them mentally and what's going on in their lives to make them so miserable as to lead a rescue group with hate, favoritism and greed. They will loosely interpret their "rules" to prevent you from adopting. To PREVENT YOU FROM OVERPAYING FOR A PUPPYMILL DOG THEY RECEIVED FOR FREE! They recently raised over $17,000 via Go Fund Me for a puppymill rescue AND they charge $1200 on top of that to adopt one of those puppies (any puppy). I'd like to see a report from your treasurer with the allocation of these funds including receipts to validate the expenses.
The incident they don't want anyone talking about...the President found it appropriate to have her team ASK if any fosters were planning to adopt puppies they were fostering then later determined that a foster family wasn't "eligible to adopt". Month to month they meet the 6 month volunteering to adopt rule but instead of working with a foster family after you asked them if they wanted to adopt to make the deadline work you decided to give the dog to a complete random that's NEVER EVEN MET HIM. How is that doing right by the dog? You lose someone listed as a Rescue Angel on your own website over a few days "volunteering" requirement to adopt. Their donation money over the years didn't have a time requirement now did it? Additionally, they're "eligible" to pay of their pocket for all food and supplies for 6 weeks and to make 3 trips to the vet totaling 3 hours each but they "aren't eligible" to adopt? Oh but wait they don't foster at their expense because, "adopters don't pay for medical". Why the hell should they? No rescue on this earth would expect fosters to pay for medical. Perhaps you need a reality check. You don't seem very educated on the exact cause you represent.
Final words, don't bother with this rescue and the heartless women who run it. Support an actual rescue instead of this greedy group benefiting from non-profit status.
I have volunteered with many organizations and work as professional fundraiser; I believe Chicago English Bulldog Rescue is one of the most well organized, focused, efficient, compassionate-yet-thoughtful nonprofit organizations that I've ever encountered. One of the many outstanding reasons for this heartfelt endorsement? CEBR is 100% managed by dedicated volunteers, all of whom have busy lives but continue to make a concerted, deeply passionate commitment to the health and wellbeing of English Bulldogs. Whether it's community education about the breed, outreach to adoptive families, or vital support in the animal welfare community, CEBR is as good as they come.

This is an outstanding group. They are the best run rescue group in the midwest, if not the country. They go above and beyond to save as many bullies as they can and don't discriminate when it comes to age, illness, or medical cost. I make it a point to donate when I can to continue my support in all that they do.

We became involved with CEBR in 2013 officially, but had been following the organization for about 5 years prior after we became proud parents of an English Bulldog puppy. All of the advice and support for "new" owners is amazing. We had frequented events that they had adoptable dogs at and everyone is always so amazingly nice and helpful. We applied to adopt a senior and had such a remarkable experience we decided to become volunteers and fosters parents. After a number of fosters, we became "foster failures" to a pair of puppy mill survivors who have filled our house with a ton of love from their new life outside of living in a wire cage. We continue to volunteer at CEBR events, and will once again foster in the future. CEBR is an organization that is flexible with times and events. We are an all volunteer organization with amazing people who are always willing to give a little extra to take care of this amazing breed of dogs.

Chicago English Bulldog Rescue (CEBR) is very near and dear to my heart. CEBR is the gold standard for english bulldog rescue! Molly Marino and all the wonderful folks involved with this organization make sure that all the bulldogs in their care are cared for in every way.

CEBR is a great organization that loves Bulldogs and gives them a second chance at life The dogs that come in are strays, high medical needs, puppy mills and sadly ones that families no longer want or can properly take care of. Some of the dogs are ones that no other rescue is willing to take and come from different parts of the country because of that reason. The dogs receive the best medical care and all are fostered in loving homes. When you adopt from CEBR you become part of a family. They offer education on the breed to adopters. And even after the adoption CEBR stays in touch with the families for any support they may need. The volunteers are great and very committed to the cause of making a difference to every dog that makes their journey through CEBR to their forever homes!

Hands down the best English Bulldog Rescue! This organization is run like a well oiled machine & a lot of hard work has gone into making it so. It makes volunteering such a pleasure. An amazing group of people committed to Rescue. The honesty and transparency is unparalleled.

Chicago English Bulldog Rescue is, first and foremost, about the bulldogs. I have been a volunteer with this organization since 2006 and have been impressed by their sound financial management and transparency with their funds. I feel completely confident that any money I donate to the organization is being used in accordance with federal 501c3 regulations and in accordance with the mission of the rescue. The medical care provided to the bulldogs in foster care with CEBR volunteers is unparalleled in quality and timeliness. Through careful money management and sound procedures, CEBR is able to take in bulldogs with basic needs as well as those with extensive medical needs without overextending itself. This is due, in part, to well-educated foster volunteers who know how to deal with basic bulldog care themselves and have an excellent understanding of when bulldogs need immediate veterinary care. CEBR works hard to maintain an educated volunteer base so that funds are spent in the most efficient manner possible. This is not a small achievement for rescue work, as dogs' needs can be unpredictable, especially when dogs are taken in as strays and from undesirable living conditions. I have faith in my fellow volunteers and never hesitate to donate my time or money to furthering the mission of this world-class organization.

My husband and I originally became involved with CEBR when we adopted our bulldog in 2012. We were truly amazed to see how well-run and organized this nonprofit was and how much support we were provided through the adoption period and beyond by countless volunteers. It was because of our outstanding experience with them as adopters that we decided to volunteer in 2013. As volunteers we have seen first-hand the commitment from the board of directors and all volunteers to run a transparent, fiscally responsible nonprofit that puts its mission at the center. It is clear to me that good governance has been key to the success of this nonprofit and I couldn't recommend it enough, it's truly an exceptional organization!

in 1999 my beloved Bull Dog passed 3 days before Christmas and 1 week before I had major back surgery...Devastated does not even begin to explain how I felt...I threw out almost everything of my baby's and made my husband promise not to ever, ever let me get another dog. After surgery all I could do was surf the internet..somehow I came across CEBR's website. I read the stories and fell in love with all the adoptees. needless to say I wanted another Bulldog. Everything I read about CEBR I trusted and was in love with it and I knew I had to adopt...their adopting process was thorough and fair. By April 26th my big boy Rocky was delivered to me by a wonderful volunteer. I thank God everyday for CEBR and for all their selfless efforts to save these beautiful dogs ... Gina Szmitko

My family and I adopted two special needs Bulldogs through CEBR. The level of professionalism surpasses any other experience I have had with other rescue groups. The dedication and selflessness shown by the many volunteers is a reflection of the passion that fuels this group. My two boys would have lead much different existences had it not been for their intervention. Both required extensive veterinary care as well as dedicated and educated fosters. What I feel sets CEBR apart from other groups is more than just the fact they provide the absolute best vetrinary for all their charges, but the support systems they have in place for CEBR Adoptees. They also have extensive information and educational materials available to the public. They are a major educator in all things Bulldog. I will continue to support this wonderful group.

My husband and I found CEBR shortly after losing our bully in 2006 and have volunteered with them ever since 2007. We have fostered, done home visit interviews, participated in events as well as coordinated the training sessions for a period of time with the organization. In this time period we have learned so much and the experience has been invaluable to us as pet owners and dog lovers. We have connected to a network of people that volunteer and we are so proud to stand alongside each and every one of them in the process of supporting English Bulldogs in need and finding some of them medical care, foster homes, training and forever homes. While the task is not always easy it has always been rewarding.
With each interaction we have with people interested in CEBR either for adopting, volunteering or training we do our best to pass along all that we have learned from this experience. It is our way to pay it forward, as I believe that CEBR has done, this whole time for the bulldogs who have been rescued to the ones currently in need. You adopt not only a bulldog from CEBR but a whole network of like minded people. It truly is a beautiful thing.

We have adopted two English Bulldogs from Chicago English Bulldog Rescue. They were professional, caring and a great organization to work with. They did a wonderful job matching us with both of the dogs we adopted. Following both adoptions, they remained in touch, offering support and answering questions. They take on some really tough medical cases and do amazing work in the community and MidWest! Thanks to all you do, CEBR!

CEBR rescues and rehabilitates bullies from private parties who can no longer care for their dog(s) and also rescues puppy mills dogs and takes on cases that have great medical needs. They love them all and care for them all. Their adoption process is fair and thorough and they go to great lengths to insure you are matched with the proper dog for your home/family. As a bully mom, this is important to me - our Dolly is from CEBR (she is our 4th bully). As a donor, I appreciate their information regarding the bullies they are rescuing and their updates on what is being done to assist each of these dogs. And I value them as a source of information for questions regarding the breed. They do a great job.

Being of service to bulldogs that have been abused and neglected, providing safe shelter and care in a loving foster situation until a forever home can be found. Not only does CEBR work to save these dogs from deplorable conditions but works just as hard to make sure the new owners are up to the task of making sure these dogs are properly acclimated in a new and loving environment.

I am a two time adopter with CEBR! They have gone above and beyond all expectations in making sure they found the perfect dog's for our family. Every volunteer we came into contact with was extremely helpful, and made themselves available for anything we could need. The support of CEBR doesn't just stop after you adopt! I have received email's, follow up calls, and continued advice whenever needed. You can tell the volunteers of CEBR truly love what they do, and there love for English Bulldogs is unparalleled!
