Mission: The organization's objectives are to provide charitable and educational services to the residents and businesses in the greater ashburn community as well as nearby areas of the southwest side of chicago.
Programs: The city of chicago department of planning development awarded greater ashburn planning association (gapa) 40,000 for a small accessible repairs for seniors (sarfs)community development block grant (cdbg) in 2012. As a delegate agency under this grant, gapa provided seniors sixty years and older, who met dpd's low-moderate income guidelines, with minor home repairs. These repairs, focusing on safety and accessibility issues in the home, were made with federal funds at no cost to the homeowners.
the organization was awarded 27,000 by the department of business affairs and consumer protection to develop strategies to strengthen neighborhood capacity to achieve sustainable economic development and job creation: - to stimulate economic development through comprehensive assistance to new and existing businesses; - to facilitate access to capital and loan packaging; - to create new job opportunities and expand the tax base; - to strengthen community economics; - to expand marketing of products and services; - to develop alternative land use strategies and identify developers for underutilized sites; and - to build strong business/community partnerships and stimulate economic growth.
