They have zero safety systems in place to protect the young girls in Girls Scouts. Background checks were not completed and when I reached out locally...they still did not enforce it. I had to mention it a second time to be taken seriously. They also touted that they sell cookies outside of a cannibas dispensary and get a ton of sales! This is not ideal for a 6 year old girl...let alone any girl you care about.

Mission: Girl scouting builds girls of courage, confidence and character, who make the world a better place.
Programs: Girl programs-outdoors - provides a unique, council-wide, quality girl scout leadership experience of discovery, connection, and taking action to develop life skills including financial literacy, s. T. E. M. , environmental leadership, healthy living and global citizenship. The program also includes outdoor activities and overnight camping experiences at the council's five camps. The cookie program surplus is utilized to support all the other council program activities. Almost 81% of the council's expenses were for girl and volunteer programs.
membership support - provides services and resources to recruit and retain girl members and support troop and neighborhood volunteers throughout our jurisdiction. For the 2016/2017 membership year, the council had 20,529 girl members active in 1,745 troops and in the program centers.
community activities - designed to gain community involvement in the council's work in providing the best girl-centric leadership development program. These activities cultivate and enhance relationships with key stakeholders and leverage the council's public identity in a fresh, relevant and forward-thinking approach to strategically maximizing all opportunities to tell the girl scout story.
volunteer support - provides services and resources to manage the intake and registration of volunteers. It also includes training, materials and supplies, and general support to ensure a successful cadre of diverse and pluralistic volunteers. For the 2015/2016 membership year, the council had 10,284 adult members.
