Mission: We provide affordable, high-quality oral healthcare with comprehensive education, clinical and wellness services for disadvantaged seniors in need, enabling them to live healthy and productive lives.
Programs: In 2017, 426 seniors completed geriatric dental assessments. If no urgent dental need is present, seniors attend an oral health education workshop that is taught in multiple languages by our registered dental hygienist. 404 seniors completed dental education classes, which includes a basic screening survey. 604 unduplicated patients were treated for a total of 3,664 visits. Given that our patient population has gone years without oral healthcare and have complicated medical histories, many patients require more visits than the average adult as evidenced by our large number of visits. In 2017, 240 seniors completed their treatment plan and the remainder were ongoing patients at the end of the year. Evidencing the need for our services, only 5% of appointments were no-shows.
in addition to its services to patients, the center collaborated with medical research organizations in assessing the relationship between oral health and general physical health in humans, especially those who receive minimal dental and health care services due to various disadvantages
