Causes: Arts & Culture, Fund Raising & Fund Distribution
Mission: The friends mission is to foster the appreciation and conservation of the decorative arts. In carrying out its mission, the friends supports the preservation, restoration and exhibition of, and educational programs regarding, important examples of interior design, furniture, textiles, fashion, graphic arts, decorative painting, art glass, jewelry, porcelain and other decorative and useful objects, including by supporting the activities and programs of les arts decoratifs.
Programs: Grants provided during the year to the musee des arts decoratifs (paris, france) in order to fund the following projects:1. $10,000 for the acquisition of cuzco (2009) by michael glancy - blown and moulded glass vase. 2. $137,000 for the acquisition of pendant (1930) by gerard sandoz 2013. 3. $33,000 for performances in the exhibition coucou bazar - jean dubuffet exhibition by costumers and dancers (oct 23 - dec 1, 2013). 4. $90,000 to fund late evening openings (6-9pm on thursdays) of les arts decoratifs from sep through dec 2013. 5. $18,221 to fund restorations for the middle ages - renaissance department. 6. $25,000 to fund the exhibition "the secrets of french lacquer: vernis martin". 7. $408,000 to fund the exhibiton "dries van noten inspirations" fashion and textiles. 8. $66,000 development: creation of a junior sponsorship post. 9. $15,000 to fund the exhibition of swedish wooden toys (jun 2014 - jan 2015).
