Causes: Arts & Culture, Single Organization Support
Mission: The specific purpose of the organization is to support and enhance opera at the school of music, university of nebraska-lincoln, and throughout nebraska.
Programs: Grants were made to the university of nebraska school of music to assist with expenses of the opera program and local and touring productions of the opera. These productions have not only provided valuable experience for the students in the opera program, but they have given the public, including students, an opportunity to experience live opera.
friends of opera presents an annual award to an outstanding student competing in the metropolitan opera regional auditions in lincoln, nebraska. This award is designed to provide an incentive for excellence among opera program students and to recognize quality. Award was $600 in 2017, included in line 28.
friends of opera presents funds to the nebraska school of music to be used for scholarships to promote opera within the school of music. Award was $7,000 in 2017, included in line 28.
