Causes: International, Promotion of International Understanding
Mission: The mission of the "friends of iiasa" organization (henceforth, the friends) is to solicit and distribute funds that will be used to foster and support research on the large problems and challenges facing mankind.
Programs: Friends of iiasa provided funding for the awarding of the first year of the peter dejanosi postdoctoral fellowship to dr. Alison heslin. This was supported by the funds raised in the iiasa/foi fundraising campaign for the fellowship, which is ongoing, and brought in another $5000 in 2017.

On feb 18-19, 2017, in association with the annual meeting of the aaas. Foi organized a dejanosi postdoctoral fellow luncheon with major donors in new york city on 4/21/17. Foi also co-organized iiasa yssp alumni 40th anniversary celebration at iiasa in june 2017. These activities were organized by margaret goud collins, who received support via contracts with the friends of iiasa.
