Mission: To provide tuition assistance for families who, due to financial constraints, would otherwise be unable to afford to send their children to a specialized school.
Programs: The foundation awarded 25,333 in scholarships during 2017 for the 2017- 2018 school year. Two applications were not completed, thus the applications were denied and one applicant was denied since it was determined that the family did not meet financial need criteria. Interest in scholarship funds has increased due to the foundation's expanded presence in social media and by specialized schools becoming aware of the foundation's mission. Scholarships were awarded to two students in two different jacksonville, florida schools. The foundation continued to provide tuition assistance to a student in massachusetts, although this student will be entering high school in the fall of 2018, thus will no longer be eligible for a scholarship. Two students attend mcglannan school in miami, florida, one of which has received tuition assistance in the prior two school years. The board acknowledges that most students will require more than one year of specialized instruction for remediation. Evaluation of the student's course work and grades is required for continued support since scholarships are for a one-year period and an applicant must re-apply for each school year. This provides important feedback on the student's progress and the overall success of the scholarship program. All students have received progress report's revealing impressive overall academic gains, suggesting that the specialized instruction they are receiving is enabling them to reach their academic potential.
