Fox Institute For Creation Spirituality

Programs: The fox institute for creation spirituality (fics) was approved on september 1st, 2016, by the colorado department of higher education to operate as a religious school. The institute offers certificates, master's and doctoral degrees and uses a holistic pedagogy first articulated by internationally renowned theologian, rev. Matthew fox, ph. D. Fics is incorporated in colorado as a non-profit organization, employing trained, credentialed professors and staff. The administrative offices are located in an historic carriage house owned by the first congregational church (fccb) of boulder which fics fully renovated prior to occupancy. The organization's mailing address is: 1120 pine street boulder, co 80302. Nearly 5,000 square feet of classroom space is leased from fccb. These are accessible via a separate entrance on the south side of the church. In its first year of operation the institute: 1) established a fully- engaged board of directors, 2) developed a comprehensive business plan, 3) developed programs and a curriculum, 4) established a permanent home for operations, 5) renovated facilities to meet a high standard of excellence, 6) began the process of hiring staff, 7) launched a comprehensive website, 8) promoted a full range of courses to prospective students, 9) developed collaborative relationships throughout the higher education realm, 10) created and began implementation of a strategic marketing plan to attract students, and 11)recruited students. October 16, 2017, marked the first week of classes at fics. As of fye 6. 30. 17, fics had four students. Creation spirituality is a tradition and a movement. It embodies and reflects the wisdom of the world's religious and spiritual teachings and our common creation-story as mirrored by science and the arts. It calls upon the interconnectedness of all individuals to be co-creators of peace, justice, beauty, ecological responsibility, and compassionate action. The fox institute for creation spirituality is a graduate school that embraces a pedagogy that calls forth a society infused with an engaged, compassionate spirituality, a place where students become more makers of rather than consumers of contemporary culture. The fox institute provides experiences that enable each student to claim his/her power as a creator of culture and an agent of change. It is our intention that, through this educational paradigm, students discern the calling forth of their unique gifts and life-giving vocations and do groundbreaking work in the world.
