Causes: International, Promotion of International Understanding
Mission: Fiuts advances international understanding through cross cultural experiences, student leadership, and community connections.
Programs: Student programs include international student orientation, social and intercultural events, and leadership development programs primarily serving an university of washington student population of approximately 9,000 international students and scholars and 1,000 local students.
education programs include k-12 education outreach programming for local schools, connecting them to international students and scholars to share global experiences. Last year, approximately 1,200 children took part in a fiuts program, connecting with 200-300 stuednts from 100 countries or cultures.
community programs involve connecting students with local community members through homestay and other hospitality programs. Approximately 350 students and 250 local hosts participate each year, either in a short-term homestay experience, holiday meal, or another hosted event.
