Mission: Bayfront health system's mission is to provide quality healthcare for all we serve.
Programs: 1) responsive grants: these are focused on social determinants of health tied to the mission of the foundation to improve population health. Funding went to 18 organizations in the total grant award amount of $3,597,079. The programs began to be delivered during 2016 and lasted through mid-year 2017. The range of activities includes k-12 education support for healthy living, equipment to resource the largest distributor of food to food banks across the service area including walk-in freezers, forklifts, etc. , and metal ramps to make housing accessible for persons whose health has made them immobile. Across the 18 grants, more than 110,000 people will be served in some way or another. 2) research: the foundation's launch as a private foundation began on january 1, 2016. To ensure the mission, focus, and efforts of this new philanthropic entity served the needs articulated by the community, ample research was conducted to strengthen the community's understanding of philanthropy and to guide the foundation's direction. This research included evaluation plans, civil citations in public school instead of arrests, how to shape the best job training program for persons who are hard to employ (formerly incarcerated, mentally ill, elderly, and/or disabled) to maximize their independence, and direct work with the florida department of health pinellas county to conduct a comprehensive community health needs assessment. The total expended around research was $126,641.
