Mission: Augment goods & services provided to families of veterans and military members lodged in the houston fisher houses.
Programs: These military families are eligible for lodging while the veterans or active duty service members are receiving treatment in the texas medical center in houston, texas. These fisher houses are owned by the department of veterans affairs, which is only able to provide limited goods and services to these family member guests. Fhfoh works with manager of these houses to determine the additional goods and services most beneficial to these families, which covers a very broad range and cannot be described in terms of traditional programs with separate titles. Essentially, fhfoh has one program: working with the manager to help the guests as much as possible. Thus, fhfoh has provided a variety of goods and services in response to the manager's requests. These goods and services benefit virtually all guests of these houses. The guest population fluctuates as the patients are admitted to and discharged from these various hospitals. It has been estimated that approximately 120 families per month are lodged in the 3 houston fisher houses, with at least one person and no more than 3 family members per room.
