I was a mademoiselle in high school & LOVE LOVE LOVED IT ! The sisterhood , volunteer service , etc ..& now years later I’m back & excited about what we have in store. I love to give back & uplift as well! & that’s what they do best. Real talks, great debates, educational connects & so much more!
The Mademoiselles has been and still is a necessary organization in the city of Houston that motivates and inspires young girls! This organization has allowed me to get involved in help young minority girls in Houston gain the knowledge to grow financially, physically and mentally. Through the annual conference, annual camp and Christmas events where we adopt a family and also surprise the young ladies with gifts, it is clear that the dedication of this group is amazing. I have been a professional member of The Mademoiselles since 2017 and since this time I have grown to love what the organization stands for and the women that make up this organization. The style, class and work ethic of this group compares to none!
I have been the mother of three past Presidents of The Mademoiselles. I know first hand the dedication and hard work these young ladies put into this organization. I have seen the difference this organization has made in the life of many young ladies. I have watched them be transformed into confident, well-mannered, positive ladies. This organization has also been responsible for providing scholarships to hundreds of scholarly students. I rate The Mademoiselles as A-One in my book.
This non profit has positively impacted the lives of countless young ladies throughout the greater Houston area . Women involved with Mademoiselles have gone on to become teachers , lawyers , engineers , physicians and pharmacists .
The value that they bring to the community is immeasurable!
The Mademoiselle Club was a huge influence in my life as a teen and developed me into the woman I am today. I'm so excited that they are offering those same lessons and resources to our current youth. These women are doing God's work with excellence.
The MLLES Alumnae is a necessary force within the Houston community. I would like to personally thank all of the alumnae, volunteers, sponsors and parents who help make this organization a force to be reckoned with for our young ladies of color. Thank you for your patience, time, advice, donations, and encouraging words not only to the students we serve but also to the Board, Co-Directors, Mentors and Committee Chairs who put in work year-round. This organization provides sisters to those who have none, friends to those who thought they didn't relate to other women, and mentors to those in need of guidance. At the end of the day, The MLLES Alumnae is a family that is rearing more than 250 children on 14 high school campuses. THANK YOU!
The Mademoiselle Service and Social Club made a tremendous impact on my life. This organization helped mold me into a leader while in high school and provides opportunities for me to serve my community as an adult. This group of women is dedicated to the mission of developing young women and positively impacting communities in Houston. I am proud to have been able to benefit from the hard work and goals of this organization and serve with this organization since 2004.
Every year I am more amazed at the work of this organization and the lives that are touched! These women work endlessly to fund-raise for young women, empower young women, and educate young women. Even though I have been blessed to volunteer for so many years, I am always walking away with a little nugget for myself. The MLLES Alumnae is going above and beyond, with the charge of changing lives!
This organization was born from young ladies who believed in the power of impact. As a former member of Mademoiselles in the late 90s, I was thrilled when this non-profit was created. It allows teen girls to connect with mentors who truly want to see them succeed and gain access to every life tool available to them. If you're looking for a group of fun loving ladies to mentor the favorite teen girl in your life, look no further!
In a conversation with my coworkers, I realized that some of those lessons learned outside of the classroom that make us successful (or not) are highly dependent upon who you were raised by, how you were raised and what you had access to/were exposed to. This is fundamental to the Mademoiselles Service and Social Club to ensure that we share this knowledge with all young ladies (or as many as we can reach).
This organization has had an impact on my life since I was a high school student offering me opportunities to network with other teens in my area. As an adult the Mademoiselle organization has allowed me the opportunity to offer my experience and a chance to influence young women in the surrounding Houston area. Mademoiselle allow me to think out of the box and pushes me in areas I never imagined.
This organization changed my life in 1997 and every since I have continued to grow and develop as a leader as a result. I never understood how instrumental my beginnings would be but I am so glad I joined and I'm so honored to continue the work.
This organization does a tremendous job with the students in the community. The annual conference is filled with knowledge and empowerment.
As a member of the Alumnae we give back to the organization various ways throughout each school year. From volunteering with the chapters for community service, fundraising for the organization, having one on one conversations with Mademoiselles, etc. The Alumnae consist of a great network of women, among us there are doctors, lawyers, educators, engineers, entrepreneurs, just to name a few.
As a Mademoiselle in high school I remember attending the conference and thinking one day I will be apart of the Alumnae. Today I am proud to be a member of the Alumnae and to be able to help some many young women.
I've have been volunteering with the Mademoiselle Service & Social Club for nearly a decade now! My favorite part of being a Mademoiselle volunteer is mentoring teen girls and helping them develop into strong adult leaders! Every year I volunteer to assist with the summer leadership camp and each year I am in awe of how special and brilliant the young ladies are! It is truly an honor to be apart of the Mademoiselle organization!
I became a member of the Mademoiselles in my sophomore year in high school and I could not imagine what my life would be like without it. The Mademoiselles created for me a safe place where I could grow and learn as a student leader and as a woman. The Mademoiselle gave me some of my first leadership experiences and gave me the opportunity with work with like-minded women who still serve as my support system today. My Mademoiselle experience was so positive and I'm grateful that I was given the opportunity to be involved.
60 years of service!! An amazing organization rooted in the community. This agency promotes so much positivity and empowerment in the community!
It is an honor and pleasure to work with THE MLLES Alumnae, Inc to provide programming to teen girls of color across the Houston area. It's amazing to see so many women give unselfishly of their time to nurture and mentor teen girls.
The Mademoiselle Service and Social Club has completely changed my life for the better! I have been connected to so many amazing women who have the common goal... to impact the lives of young women! It is so empowering!
The women of MLLES Alumnae represent greatness at the highest level. They spend their time all year, each year and have for the past ten years mentoring young high school girls in the Houston area. An informative and meaningful conference is held each year, fundraisers are held throughout the year, and the members of MLLES Alumnae also support the successes of the young girls by attending their functions and encouraging them to reach their highest goals.
I truly hope the high school girls who have received and are still receiving the gift of dedication from the MLLES Alumnae understand how fortunate they are. I donate to the organization each year, because seeing young women devote their time and efforts unselfishly warms my heart. I commend them.
The MLLES Alumnae is a great organization! I joined the organization my sohpmore year and being in it taught me life lessons. I am now a new member of the alumnae and I believe it was the best choice I could've made.
Mademoiselles Alumnae have been giving back to not only the women, but also, the community in general since 1960. I'm a current member of the Mademoiselle's organization and I can't wait to be apart of the alumnae. The impact that they make on the community shadows the impact that they have on us as young women trying to be successful and charitable.
This organization goes above and beyond to help serve young women. I joined Mademoiselles when I was a sophomore in high school and it has given me tools I needed to succeed. From professionalism to serving, I have learned so much that I have utilized all throughout college and currently in my professional career. As an alum, I have had the pleasure to watch how this organization grow and cultivate young women and it has been a pleasure to be a part of that initiative.
The MLLES Alumnae is an outstanding organization which has been cultivating young women for years. I have been fortunate to work with them for several years. It has been my delight to watch high school girls blossom and grow into highly productive women.
My daughter was a Mademoiselle in high school. The organization helped her to continue to transform into an independent, confident and well rounded young women. I am glad that this wonderful organization exist to help empower young women.
As a current sophomore college student, I cannot express how important the Mademoiselles organization was to me. Being part of this organization really made me grow personally, mentally but most importantly professionally. Everything that I learned from them has been applied more than once in my college career and I know that it will continue to serve me for many more years to come.
I personally love being a part of the Mademoiselle Social & Service Club. It gives a great opportunity for young girls to grow mentally and professionally. They offer all of their support to the community, and they all look forward to offering the community a better future.
As a Mademoiselle, I can honestly say that I have become a mature young lady who takes pride in calling these girls family. I have done many things that involved me helping out in my community with this organization and I plan on doing many more. :)
As a community worker, I am highly impressed with the work of the Mlles Alumnae organization. I have been following them for over 10 years and can say without a doubt that they have been consistent, hard working and very effective with their target population of high school females. They are in touch with the needs of teenage girls and young women and stay abreast of the current issues that affect them. Their activities are educational and fun therefore they get lots of involvement from the community. I applaud them for their efforts and look forward to being a part of future programming.
My placement into the mademoiselle organization was defiantly another positive step in my life. Being that I attend a academic based academy, the mademoiselle club is defiantly a way to bond with other young ladies that have the same aspirations and goals as i do. I can describe the mademoiselle organization as a circle, because we all go around together to make the dream work. The Alumnae are defiantly the heart of our club. After my chapters induction in 2013, to such a powerful club, my entire character has changed. I am sooooo thankful and blessed to be apart of this wonderful orginization.
I became a Mademoiselle in 2013. Ever since then, my life has changed for the better. Emerging into a respectable leader and learning the true definition of the word "we" are just a few of many things that I have accomplished because of the Mademoiselles Club. I have also received the chance to form a sisterly bond with not just the girls in my chapter, but girls in other Mademoiselle chapters ,and the Mademoiselle Alumni. We are not just about our sisterhood but also about serving our community. Whether it is donating toys to young children who are ill or doing community service with my sisters at the officer's camp makes me proud. In this organization, I am honored to work with women that very-well educated and overall phenomenal women.
I was a member of the Mademoiselle high school organization from 1999-2002 and those four years led me to become a leader in my community and one who understands the importance of giving back to others so much that I've committed my life to educating young children. When the MLLES ALUMNAE was founded, I knew this was an opportunity to invest into high school girls who battle finding themselves and understanding how decisions made as teenagers can impact their future. The MLLES ALUMNAE is a great avenue that allows hundreds of girls in the Houston area to reflect on who they are, how important they are, and what skills are needed to be a successdul young lady in the 21st century.
I have been working with the MLLES ALUMNAE since the beginning and we are doing a GREAT work. The young women who we come across have an experience like no other and we KNOW that we are positively impacting the community. I joined the Mademoiselles in 1995 as a student at Booker T. Washington High School.
I was a member of The Mademoiselles as a student in HISD. I definitely understand the effect that the organization has on young ladies and the fact that The Alumnae are now working with the chapters has only empowered these young ladies more. It gives us the opportunity to mentor and give back to a community that is definitely in need. We are also able to work with the administrators on the campuses and with parents to ensure we are doing what's best for these young ladies in all aspects of their lives. Despite the fact that the organization has limited resources, The MLLES Alumnae has been able to host awesome character building events for the members of The Mademoiselles. As long as I am able to support them I definitely will with my time and other resources!!!
This organization is one that despite minimal support, they are able to provide an enormous amount of opportunity to high school age, primarily minority, women. They promote pursing a strong education and being career-oriented all while ensuring that the qualities of a well-respected woman are maintained. This generation of young women is definitely benefitting from an organization who prides itself on the outcome of their efforts!
The Mlles Alumnae are a wonderful organization! They help young ladies by empowering them and helping then understand thT they can do anything they set their mind to! Wing at camp was really awesome! I met some wonderful people but I also learned how to be a better leader and make smart decisions that well further help my group! The Mlles Alumnae help the community in so many ways that we are all just thankful for them, from helping with back to school supply drives to food donation; they go above and beyond!
The Mlles Alumnae is a extraordinary organization equipped with wonderful women to insure that it continues to run smoothly. This organization is amazing and can prove it with everything they do. I enjoy every thing I do with the Alumnae. They are all great individuals and each play a huge part on how they stand as a whole. The Alumnae' s help with the Mademoiselle has helped build skills and taught me lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
The Mlles Alumnae is a wonderful organization that has helped me blossom into a responsible young lady. The ladies in this organization are role models to the youth, and they help us grow by teaching us how to be responsible adults and leaders in society. From my experience with the Mlles Alumnae, I have learned how to work as a team with the other members of my organization. have learned many valuable things that I will definitely be used in order for me to become successful in life. My experience with this organization has been truly inspiring.
I really appreciate all the hard work the MLLES Alumnae puts into every event for the Mademoiselle's. Being apart of a newly inducted chapter into this organization, I can honestly say everybody apart of the MLLES Alumnae has made me feel welcomed, comfortable, and honored to be apart of the Mademoiselle's organization. From attending the officer retreat I got to see first hand how much members of the Alumnae really care about all the beautiful young ladies who are apart of the mademoiselle's. They taught us leadership skills, and fundraising tips that we can take back to our own chapters to have a successful year. I've really enjoyed everything that mademoiselle's and the MLLES Alumnae has had to offer so far. Hopefully there will be many more to come!
The Mlles Alumnae group is is one that should be replicated across the nation. The goals, objectives, consistency, and dedication of this group have helped so many young women to grow into productive participants in our society. I appreciate their efforts and believe that any accolade they can receive is well-deserved.
When they helped us out they were very polite and caring. The never questioned us and did everything with a smile in their face. Even though it was community service, they were very much enjoying themselves and even helped us enjoy the event a little more. Some even stayed until the end and helped us put up everything and clean. I really appreciate their service. When i heard about these reviews i just had to participate. Thank you
This organization has chapters in several Houston area high schools. The purpose of the group is to foster a spirit of learning, cooperation, sisterhood and service to others. The organization is run by volunteers that donate their time, talents and monies to mentor area high school girls. I have seen the organization grow and continue as girls graduate and new ones become involved. The graduates continue to advise and volunteer when possible. The spirit of the advisors is remarkable and a beacon to us all. They continue to mentor without fanfare or recognition!
I've seen these young women live the values they stand for by providing their time, money, life stories and living examples of what it means to be successful and most importantly, happy with who you are as a woman. It truly is inspiring to see and worthy of the credit awarded.
The MLLES Alumnae is an AWESOME community service organization dedicated to uplifting the community. I am more than honored to be a part of this prestigious group of women helping young ladies reach higher heights.
This is a great organization. They teach you how to dress professionally, also how a young lady should act and carry herself. They host a college prep every year to prepare students who are about to enter college. They are also very dedicated in serving the community.
The MLLES Alumnae, Inc. and the young the group that they support, The Mademoiselles, has operated in Houston schools for over 40 years as a service and support group for predominately African-American young ladies. They participate in numerous leadership, business, and community service programs that seek to develop leadership and the emotional well-being of the young ladies in the organization.
For the last 7 years, they have hosted a city-wide conference that brings together all of their local chapters (over 100 young women) for a one day leadership conference. I have participated in the conference three times, as a member of their male panel. The work that they do significantly changes the trajectory of the lives of many of the young ladies because they young women in their organization gain access to a life beyond their neighborhood, the trappings of urban America, or the perfunctory roles afforded to those without access. The young women in the program have gone on to be successful college students and professionals in many fields. Without the support of the Miles Alumnae, I am sure that their lives would be totally different.
The Mademoiselles Alumnae is great because they still find time to help high school young ladies to become more of a lady for the future and they are always giving back. If it wasn't for them I wouldn't know the proper ways to dress for a job and I wouldn't have a strong sisterbond that I do now have with my friends.
I've had the honor of being a part of the Mademoiselles Organization since 2009 and I'm thankful for every lesson learned. I credit the Mademoiselles for guiding me on a path of a successful young woman. Each mentor of the alumnae has set the bar high on what I can accomplish in my career and how I can make a difference in my community. The Mademoiselles gives young women an opportunity to grow in areas that'll benefit them in the future. Regularly I think back to the business apparel tips or college advice given in workshops the Alumnae gave. During high school the Alumnae were the role models for me and now that I'm entering college & in a business setting, I can be the example to others. The Mademoiselles produces a great cycle of successful, determined young women. I'm proud to be member of this 52 year legacy.
The programs and events that the Mlles Alumnae provide are very empowering to the Houston community. From their Project Prom, City Wide Conferences, and Educational seminars, there is a wealth of knowledge for young women to use in their everyday lives.
MLLES ALUMNAE is a great organization that provides great opportunities to young ladies, as well as positive female role models. They host a variety of workshops and seminars including topic such as educational and health. I was apart of the Mademoiselles Social & Service Organization in HS. I'm glad to see the the traditions of community service and finer womanhood are being continued through the Alumnae Organization.
I began working with organization about four years ago and I can truly say that they are doing a great work! Many young ladies are on the right track now versus the road they were treading down toward mediocrity. They were given hope and now know that the circumstance in which they were born does not have to determine their future outcome. The sky is the limit and they are flying high :)
The MLLES Alumnae, Inc. was founded because of the significantly positive impact that the Mademoiselles organization had on the lives of its founders and other young ladies of color during their high school years.
When I joined the Mademoiselles Club in high school (circa 1996), I could not even fathom the level of influence that it would have on my personal and professional growth. Being around such positive people, serving the community, being exposed to college life all over the country, holding leadership positions, and the list goes on thoroughly enhanced my high school and thus undergraduate and now graduate school careers.
Within the MLLES Alumnae, Inc., we cultivate even greater experiences for all of the Mademoiselles. We strive to ensure that the accomplishments of the young ladies of our future far outweigh our own. Through personal and professional development workshops and scholarships at our annual conferences, intermittent seminars when and where we see a need, and continual service and social events; we equip them with the knowledge and resources to succeed in all facets of life -- from public speaking to relationships to exercise and nutrition. It is our intention that each young lady not only leaves more confident and informed, but she is also positively infectious to her community and environment.
I have been apart of the Mademoiselles organization since 1997. During my tenure as a high school student, I grew tremendously in self-development and leadership. So much so, that within my senior year, not only did I hold the position of President for the organization, but I was elected to serve on the Superintendent AdHOC committee for my school. This was a prestigious appointment where I became the voice of the entire school and relayed issues and concerns directly to the Superintendent for advancement of education and improvement of the community within the school.
These experiences transpired into more leadership opportunities throughout my college years and even into my adulthood. Now as an accomplished career person, author, motivational speaker, and mentor, I have made it my duty to give back to the organization in ways that continues to strengthen my character and charge me with an even greater responsibility: strengthening the pipeline that provided me a conduit to continued success.
I would like to see this organization continue to expand across the nation because the foundation and principals of the organization could empower more young people like myself. I realize that this will entail a lot of work and discipline on our part as leaders of the Alumnae sector, but I truly believe in the vision and I am living proof of it's many works. I credit this organization for being my foundation for developing into the young lady I am today and my greatest desire for this organization is to become a world-wide staple by which parents encourage their daughters to mimic and embrace.
I became a member of this organization in 2003 and I have thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. The Mademoiselles Social Club taught me most of my leadership and people skills that I use daily in my career. The MLLES Alumnae Inc. has even furthered those skills and my hidden talents through giving me the opportunity to work with some amazing people. The Mademoiselles organization was a vital part of my high school years and I was grateful for the opportunity to become a member then, and I am even more grateful for the opportunity to work with/for them now.
I have been committed to this organization for over 14 years. While The Mademoiselle Alumnae, Inc. began hosting conferences 7 years ago, the Mademoiselles student organization was founded in 1960 - creating a long lineage of leaders. I am honored to be a part of this movement.
As a member of the Mademoiselles in high school, I was thoroughly excited to learn that Shannan and Brandi had decided to start The MLLES Alumnae, Inc. to give back to an organization that helped them (and so many of us) become the women that we are today. Seven years ago, they created this non profit to build a culture of unit between every high school Mademoiselle chapter in Houston. The MLLES offers workshops to young ladies that help build their character, business saavy and people oriented skills. I look forward to every April to be a part of the great vision of this nonprofit organization. I love how current high school girls can connect and build relationships with former Mademoiselles. Aside from the conference, seminars are held throughout the school year to help continue to foster growth within the young ladies. On top of all this, young ladies are shown the importance of giving back to others through a variety of community service events. Every year the conferences and seminars are bigger and better and I can only imagine what great blessings await the future of this awesome organization!
A mademoiselle is what I wanna be! This Alumnae is so giving and so willing to focus on young women of all ethnic groups and diversities. Communities are in need of organizations that will dedicate their time, skills, and abilities to bettering the future of young adults. The great thing about Mlles Alumnae is it is ever changing to meet the constant needs of our young women. I encourage all mothers who care about the mind development of their young ladies to inquire more about this organization and its many benefits. We love you and keep up the good work MLLES ALUMNAE!!!
Becoming a part of the Mlles Alumnae is an excellent way to make a difference in the lives of young women in our community. We get the opportunity to talk, get to know, and positively influence the lives of high school girls as they enter into college and become women in society.
I was a member of the MLLES in high school and now I am a member of the Alumnae and it has been an experience for me. I honestly believe that this organization and its host of dedicated members molded me into the woman I am today. I am so thankful to be a part of this organization and I know it is changing lives every step of the way.
Mademoiselle is a service and social club for young ladies to be refined and developed into strong women in today's society. From the conference last weekend I was able to learn new things and broaden my horizons. I meet new friends and old friends alike and also got to learn more about my alumnae. As a graduating senior about to enter into the "real world", the things I learned at the conference will help me fight off the "Freshman 15" and also accommodate living with a roommate. I enjoyed the conference and had a ton of fun. I loved the chat off and will have very found memories of it as I go off to college. I plan on joining Mlle Alumnae, so that I can help the girls behind me and also show them that tom boys can be "young ladies".
The MLLES organization has opened doors by serving the community with volunteer services and outreach programs. Several chapter in the Houston area cater to young ladies but helping them help others.
Being a member of The MLLES Alumnae, Inc (TMA) has been an incredible experience. I have had the opportunity to inspire hundreds of young girls through the platforms TMA provides. Each yar TMA hosts a conference full of seminars, workshops, panel discussions, and other services that are often facilitated by some of the most highly regarded professionals in respective fields. For years, TMA's mission and purpose have continually been met as young participants leave our conferences equipped with higher moral, self-confidence, preparation for scholastic achievement, and more. I have no doubt that our mission will continue to impact the community for years to come.
By being a sponsor of this organization I have had the opportunity to influence girls of all socioeconomic backgrounds and ethnicities to become young successful women. Mademoiselles allows these young women to obtain business etiquette, community service, and social skills. Minority women are so often not afforded the same opportunities as other ethnic groups. However, this organization is helping to change that. It provides all the necessary tools that these young women need to become succcessful in life. The various workshops, community service events, and social activities are second to none. I would love to see the organization continue to expand across the city to give more girls opportunities they otherwise never would have had.
MLLES Alumnae group foster the personal and professional development of high school girls. They introduce them to social skills, giving back through community services and
Mademoiselles is quite possibly one of the best organizations around! I could not have been in a better and more life preparing organization during high school. As a recent high school graduate and college freshman, I have reaped all of the benefits of the things I was taught during my time as a Mademoiselle. Having been on the executive board for the organization at my high school, I got many hours of experience hosting large community service and social events that prepared me to serve as a leader in large settings on my college campus. This is a skill that many freshman do not come into college having and seriously propels those of us that do ahead both in an outside of the classroom. Additionally, the Mademoiselle organization showed me what it was like to be a strong and successful working woman in today's society. The Mademoiselle organization brings shines the light on all of the many possibilities for women of all shapes, sizes, and colors, and truly shows young girls who may not have had the opportunity to see such things what they can have if they work extremely hard. Overall this is an excellent organization and I am incredibly grateful that I was a part of it. From learning simple things like what it takes to be a respected lady in today's society to even how to successfully market events and network with individuals I have gained an enormous amount from the Mademoiselle organization!
I was a member of Mlles in High School and now I am a volunteer. As a student member and now an alumnae member I understand and see the benefits of this organization. I gained much and learned much about becoming a woman and I hope as a volunteer to help other young ladies with this life transition. The Mlles Alumnae do a great service for high school women in Houston, Texas. I am proud to serve as a member of the committee. This organization has a bright future, the best is yet to come.
