Terri and I went to Monrovia and Ghanta Liberia to "Teach the Teachers" We had direct interaction with 10 different schools and over 50 teachers. It was in June/July of 2016. End of the year class moving up and graduation ceremonies were occurring in which we attended. We were able to meet many children and participated in the events to inspire them on their educational journey. All of the pictures and histories of many of the schools are on facebook. They authentic from grass roots and the page is always current. We are in direct contact, via email and social media, on a daily basis with the principals, directors and teachers . The individuals were perfect hosts! Please check out ESORM's Facebook Page. https://www.facebook.com/EsormAfrica/ We will be going back hopefully soon..... Anyone interested?
In March 2011, Rev. Fred Boduo, our project manager, traveled to his home town of Zwedru, Liberia and built an 8 classroom 7,500 square foot cement brick elementary school in 46 days using only hand tools-shovels, machetes, hammers! They even made their own bricks and cut down trees to make planks for beams. There is no Home Depot here. The people there were so eager to have a school, they all worked diligently 10 hours a day, 6 days a week for only food and a small stipend as their payment!
Our founder, Rev. William Boduo, returned to Zwedru in April 2012 for 5 months to complete the plans. He met with political leaders and the community, oversaw desks being built, did teacher training and completed the final building of the school. In September 2012 the school opened with 200 students! Working for a minimum stipend, all of the teachers gave sacrificially of their time and finances continually all year to see that these children in their community of Zwedru received this invaluable education. There was a big community celebration at the end of the year as the children graduated to the next grade.
On September 2013, the school opened for our second year with two new grades. We now have students from preschool to grade 6. We couldn’t have done this without the faithful and continued support of all our donors. Our thanks to you is immeasurable!
