7 years ago in November I was working on my Thanksgiving dinner shopping list while I waited to have my yearly routine mammogram. The mammogram results that time were NOT routine. To my great surprise, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I had 2 lumpectomies around Christmas followed by radiation.

The cancer diagnosis changed my holidays that year and my life… BUT the Unite for Her Wellness Day at Paoli Hospital changed my battle with cancer, allowing me to be the survivor I am today. With the various wellness initiatives they presented, I was empowered to rejuvenate and to recover. I ate better due to nutrition guidance and a weekly delivery
of fresh vegetables. I felt relaxed from the massage therapy. I was emotionally raised through friendships and support from the Unite for Her staff and volunteers who understood my journey. This is a wonderful organization and I am grateful to continue to be associated with them.

I am a young woman recently diagnosed with breast cancer. I attended a wellness event hosted by Unite for Her and learned about the services that were available via the organization's voucher program. So far, I've had a therapeutic massage and a grocery store tour and cooking demonstration by their awesome nutritionist. This organization promotes health and treating not only cancer but the person as a whole so we can live long, healthy lives! I'd recommend them to anyone who has been diagnosed with cancer and wants to lead a healthier life.

Unite For Her was a suprising and welcome resource at a challenging time. I continue to use and share The Cancer-Fighting Kitchen by Rebecca Katz. I was also able to use my free farm-share to make many of the nutritional and delicious recipes in this book. FYI, Rebecca Katz has a new cookbook, The Healthy Mind, which I just ordered for myself and my cousin.

In addition to a free cookbook, a free farm-share, and a free six month YMCA membership, I also received coupons to use for acupuncture and a thirty minute nutritional consult. I would not have been able to afford any of these resources without the support of this organization.

I personally was shocked by the cost of medical care, even with "good" insurance. Unite For Her was a bright light in an otherwise challenging time in my life. I am forever grateful.

Unite for Her provided me the opportunity to do acupuncture and massage during treatment, that I wouldn't have been able to afford otherwise, which was extremely beneficial to both my physical and mental health. They also provided me with organic vegetables during the summer I was undergoing treatment which meant I always had a healthy option in my kitchen without having to make the trip to the store if I wasn't feeling up to it. I'm so grateful for everything they do and HIGHLY recommend their organization.

Unite For Her helped me through a very difficult time. I learned a great deal about various healing modalities and was provided access to them through coupons, workshops, etc. It was very empowering. Since then, I have worked with UFH in various fund raising activities. The energy and enthusiasm of the volunteers is incredible. It is an incredible organization.

My day with Unite for Her was wonderful. I learned so much and received so many great coupons which helped me immensely. More than that it was so good to be with other women going through or went through the same experience I did. Having breast cancer is when you really need to talk to others with it and feel a connection with them.
That's the benefit of Unite for Her. What a warm and caring group of people.

After going through treatment for breast cancer, Unite For Her was a breath of fresh air. It was wonderful to be pampered. The massages, the organic vegetables for 26 weeks, the vouchers for accupuncture, vouchers for yoga lessons and a voucher for a facial. Plus, I had someone come to my home and prepare five different meals. The meals were quick, good for you and tasted great. It was a great experience and to know there are people out there that care so much to want to make you feel so special. My hat goes off to them and many thanks for helping me get back to a norm.

Unite for HER was the most uplifting experience!p during a downtrodden time! My mother has passed, I have no sisters and a house full of males who love me, but are not female. Unite for HER presented a sisterhood when I most needed it. Not a pity party, but a united front where we gained strength from one another and cheered each other's efforts. No words can truly express my gratitude for the support, massages, organic vegetables, beauty classes, education, and the list goes on. This organization MAKES A DIFFERENCE!

I can't say enough positive things about this organization. They were introduced to me at Paoli Hospital at the time of my mastectomy, and have been a constant in my life since. They have amazing people and programs to help you get through the most difficult time. They have helped me with emotional support, nutrition, massage and so many more aspects of my recovery. This is a wonderful organization who provides support and resources for breast cancer patients. The participants are caring and encouraging and are proactive in providing services that help improve the quality of what is a devastating time. Knowing that others care and are there to assist is priceless. They have a dedicated team and a wonderful group of contributors who donate their time and services and truly want to make a difference in the recovery period for these women. So often during treatment, you feel far from normal, but having others who want to help in some small way is makes it just a little easier. They truly are a blessing.

Wow! There are so many things I could say about Unite for Her and its staff. To me, the breast cancer diagnosis left me in a fog. In a moment, my life had changed. This occurred after so many other negative changes in my life. Unite for Her was a way out of that fog and into a new and wonderful way of life. It also introduced me to a new group of wonderful women and friends. At my Wellness Day I came to understand how to care for me. For so many years I cared for everyone else in my life. This was a gentle way to start caring for me. In the process, I knew that other women would need this as well. Now I volunteer to help other women navigate through the process and become whole again. What a life saver Unite for Her has been for me! Thank you Thank you Thank You!!!!!

Unite For Her is a fantastic organization! They give women going through breast cancer a chance to breath and think about something else, besides their cancer diagnosis. The outreach programs that are available are remarkable and give us cancer patients and survivors an opportunity to try several types of services that we normally could not afford due to the medical bills, cancer treatment is very expensive. I love this organization, they gave me a shoulder to lean on and the Wellness Day empower women and give them hope and access to resources they may not know about. I learned a lot of information about nutrition, got to try organic fruits and vegetables and learned how to shop and cook healthier foods for myself and my family. The complementary therapies (yoga, Reiki, acupuncture, message, etc.) and the providers are outstanding. Several times throughout the year I had a chance to forget for an hour or more that I was a cancer survivor and just relax and rejuvenate my body and spirit! I don't think people realize that after you finish the cancer treatments, there is a void and this is the time when you really need help in getting your life back on track. The various programs that Unite For Her provides, gives you that help and support. I ask anyone that can, to please make a donation so they can continue to help the thousands of women that go through the journey of a cancer diagnosis every year. Cancer is a life changing diseases, but Unite For Her helps you get through it!

Unite for Her through Paoli Hospital...did not know what to expect from a day of activities devoted to my well being as a recovering breast cancer patient. It was a day of being given the right amount of "being special" while learning to be aware of the unique requirements for a more wholesome life in food (great lunch), workouts, undergarments and therapists-message, reiki and acupuncture. Most important was the sense of well being the entire group provided and that one does not have to be alone in recovery.

Unite for Her is an amazing organization. I attended a Unite for Her Wellness Day at Chestnut Hill Hospital in the Spring of 2015, and it was a very enlightening experience. The organization focuses on living beyond breast cancer and offers nutritional advice and services that greatly helped in my recovery. I have taken full advantage of the services provided for the past year and will continue to use what I have learned for the rest of my life. I have modified my eating habits and am much more aware of the foods and chemicals that I put in my body. I also have been doing acupuncture and using my YMCA membership faithfully. Thank you, Unite for Her for you support in my recovery.

I began medical treatments for breast cancer in 2013. Starting with bi-lateral mastectomy, I then endured the difficult treatments of chemotherapy and radiation. When I was fortunate to attend the Unite for Her Wellness Day in the Spring of 2014, it was a huge and heavenly gift for my body, mind, and spirit! The day included invaluable education, a nutritious healthy lunch, and sample experiences of yoga and massage. I was truly amazed and delighted by the bonus of several gifts, including an empowering cookbook for anti-cancer recipes, 10 weeks of receiving fresh organic vegetables from a CSA that introduced me to a whole new world of healthy nutrition, and a choice of vouchers for several wonderful holistic resources including massage, acupuncture, yoga, counseling, and more. I am so grateful for the opportunity to broaden the scope of my healing from the harsh medical treatments. Sue Weldon and Unite for Her is a phenomenal empowering gift to those of us who are in great need of care and support! I have deleted sugar and wheat from my diet, resulting in greater health for my husband and me. When my oncologist said “diet has nothing to do with it” that was the last time I used him as my oncologist. We need to turn the tide of the cut-burn-drug mindset of the medical industry so that women are educated to prevent and heal breast cancer with up-to-date knowledge and choices. I am forever grateful for Unite for Her!

Unite For Her is a fantastic organization! They provide much needed support to breast cancer patients. I attended a Wellness day in 2015. The session provided important information about complementary therapies that really help with healing and moving beyond breast cancer. Doctors are great at diagnosis and treatment, but they typically don't discuss complementary therapies. Had I not gone to the Wellness Day, I would still have a lot more residual pain and side effects from chemo and radiation. The acupuncture and massage vouchers really helped put me back together after a long road of treatment!

Unite for Her made a difference in my breast cancer recovery program. Not knowing what to exactly expect, I attended a Wellness Day at Paoli Hospital and my life was put on a better path. There I got my first market share basket and with Katie's guidance, learned to cook more healthy and with vegetables I never heard of before...I learned the value of yoga and meditation to keep stress down...my back never felt better thanks to the healing massages given...more than anything I have shared friendship and support through this life adventure.

I can't say enough good things about Sue Weldon and her staff (extras cheers to Katie Cavuto, Gail Kelly and Cameron Cotrufello)...they are professional, filled with knowledge, helpful and the biggest cheerleaders around for fighting breast cancer.

Unite for Her is truly an amazing organization that I can honestly say has personally changed my life. It supports breast cancer patients by providing complimentary services to each woman through wellness days and continued care for an entire year and beyond if necessary. I was introduced to UFH in 2013 when I was going through treatment myself. I walked away that day , informed and empowered! I knew I had to be a part of this organization. They were right there for me again when I was diagnosed for a second time! The money raised actually goes to benefiting the patients in a very important way. The services provided have a great impact on the recovery process! It is a great honor to be a part of UFH. Thank you, Sue Weldon! ❤️

So if she can continue to get donations and keep up the great work maybe that day will come! I volunteer now with Susan and her team on Wellness Days. Living through breast cancer can leave one feeling very frightened and vulnerable. You feel somewhat helpless and need to rely a great deal on your medical team and others. Thanks to Unite For Her I felt empowered to take charge of my life and my health again! I was so surprised by the wellness day I attended this past Sept. at Terrain. I thought that it was going to be presented as lectures, and heavy promotion for local businesses. But I was wrong. It truly was presented as a gift for cancer patients and provides the opportunity for learning, continued support services, and a sense of community. It is something every cancer patient needs, especially for patients who tend to isolate themselves. The presenters are truly amazing, many of them cancer survivors themselves, so they have a real empathy for this journey we are going through. I can't thank them enough. The vouchers are incredible, but the real value can't be measured in terms of money, this gift is up-lifting, and has raised my spirits and instilled a sense of vigor. I am so grateful. Thank You.

Unite For Her is providing a critical union between the standard medical community and alternative therapies treating breast cancer. Their Wellness Days are transformative experiences for every person who attends them. As a person largely grounded in alternative practices, it was very difficult for me to undergo standard surgery and radiation protocols. Unite for Her made that easier to balance because of the wonderful support they give not only through education, but through real and free supportive therapies. My acupuncture treatments hugely improved my quality of life following radiation. The CSA share was incredible. Every box made me feel supported in a positive way that nothing else did, and that doesn't even include the nutritional benefits! Unite For Her is providing real help directly to the women who need it free of charge. That's a big deal! I am incredibly grateful to Unite For Her.

I attended the beautiful event at Terrain in September and am so very thankful. As soon as I walked in the door to the cheerful surroundings the day was a mini-vacation. In two years of dealing with the challenges of chemo side effects, appointments scheduled and rescheduled, family balancing, work concerns, insurance, sometimes wonderful and sometimes less so healthcare providers, and so many other issues it was delightful to be treated so well. This was the only event where I was treated as whole person who could have options to consider to continue as a healthy person and not merely a patient. And ...it was fun! We learned a lot, the food was really great and healthy. The providers were upbeat and shared knowledge in a lively way ...so different from other experiences. I felt energized and hopeful. Accupuncture was really a life changing treatment for me after chemo neuropathy - and sad to say non of my regular medical providers even mentioned it. I had become unable to walk literally overnight and was that way for a year -- having to be in a wheelchair if needing to walk for more than 10-15 minutes. Now, I am able to walk - still have mild neuropathy but am not confined -- so that was a blessing to know who are the approved providers. I am eating with gusto the fresh veggies (some a mystery to solve!!) and look forward to massage after healing from another operation. I smile to remember that sunny day and being treated to so many wonderful experiences with yoga, nutrition, reiki and massage. Many Breast Cancer events seem to be "big ticket" fund-raisers that many of us cannot afford or do not have the stamina to attend. This really was thought out to give us a day away that was fun, and tools to grow strong in future. Thank you -- for the volunteers and everyone who made this such a special event.

I learned so much more than I ever thought possible, from nutrition to exercise and other complimentary therapies. But most of all, from the women who were going through the same situation. It was difficult for me to discuss, but with these women, it was okay, better than okay. When I was diagnosed with breast cancer in March I was totally dumbfounded and then dropped into a low feeling of despair. That lasted for about three days although I was already putting everything in place for a gameplan of action. I was researching all types of alternative and traditional therapies which was quite cumbersome. Just trying to do the right thing to irradicate this beast. THEN UFH invited me to Paoli Hospital for their event:) I was amazed at this treasure trove of information at my finger tips as well as being surrounded by practitioners and women who had been or were going through similar situations. I learned a lot that day and came home feeling empowered and thinking "you can handle this, you can beat this." The vouchers for a pick of therapists dealing with different alternative therapies was a wonderful tool that I have found so benefcial in my recovery. This was an unexpected and extremely generous bonus that I will be forever grateful for. The continued support that UFH supplies through Facebook with continually supplying helpful tips has been key as well as their one on one support happily given when requested. I have been I nvolved in many charity groups over the years but I do have to say that Unite For Her is one of the most unique groups I have ever come across... As any one diagnosed with breast cancer knows, once the initial shock wears off and you start looking for support, there are many organizations that will come to your aid- send you literature, have you attend support groups, direct you to internet chat rooms, etc. Blah...blah...the list is endless.

By the time I was into my chemotherapy, I'd pretty much been there, done that. That's why I was somewhat reluctant to attend a "Wellness Day" sponsored by Unite for Her at my hospital. It was January. It was snowing. It was an hour drive from my house. It was 5:30 AM- 2 days after my last chemo session. I almost blew it off as being another support group "woe is me" session. I am so glad I didn't!!! It was the single pivotal event that got me through my surgeries, 16 weeks of chemo, and 37 sessions of radiation, and truly gave me a sense of control over my recovery.

Talk about putting your money where your mouth is!! I don't know of any other nonprofit that serves their local community so well, and gives so much directly to the client. From the time Sue Weldon told us her story, through the presentations on the different complementary therapies and the amazing lunch and talk on nutrition provided by Katie Cavuto Boyle, to the end of the day where they gave us over $2000 worth of free vouchers to use on the therapies that would best help us heal, it was an INCREDIBLE day. Not only did they educate us, but they actually gave us the tools to help us in our recovery.

I truly feel blessed to have been a recipient of such an amazing and caring organization.
I could write all day about Unite for Her, but suffice it to say that there is a reason that I, and many other women that have attended a local Wellness Day, are so happy to be able to volunteer with them now.

This is a nonprofit that should be a role model for others out there on how to do it right!!

Unite for HER...couldn't be a better name for this organization as Sue Weldon and her staff tirelessly Unite women with breast cancer and give women amazing resources, while making each of us feel special. As a three time young survivor of breast cancer, single mom of three young kids, this organization gave me a sense that everything was going to be alright. How amazing and special I felt during a time of darkness to be cherished with gifts of nutrition, organic produce, yoga, reiki, massage, accupuncture, on top of being educated on food, products and services that are healthy for women. Likewise and very important, foods and products that are not good for women or our families. The first and second time I was diagnosed, I felt alone. This third time, with Unite for HER, I didn't feel alone and I had resources to help me get better and with less side affects. The education provided is so very important for women.

Unite for HER has done so much to create more awareness of this illness and create a community to support breast cancer awareness and help fight it. My son came home from Middle School last week and asked if he could purchase a Unite for HER pink shirt. He said all of his friends wanted the shirt to wear to school. I find that truly amazing as children with mom's of breast cancer sometimes feel all alone as well. Unite for HER is spreading the word that breast cancer is an illness and everyday mom's and some dads have it, but we can fight and get thru it and be stronger because of it.

Thank you Unite for HER.

A friend told me about Unite For Her when I was diagnosed with breast cancer October 2013. After finishing Chemo and radiation I had the opportunity to attend a Unite for Her day held in Phoenixville. What a great day. I learned so much about how to help myself heal. I received free vouchers for yoga and message therapies. I brought home a huge box of organic veggies and received veggies every week for 10 weeks. I enjoy this so much that I still continue getting produce from CSA coop. Healing from cancer is a journey and thanks to Unite for Her I am on the right path to recovery! Thank you Unite For Her!!!!!!!

Unite for HER is by far, the most amazing nonprofit that I have been introduced to since my diagnosis. Besides providing valuable services that otherwise are not covered by my health insurance, it also provided me with informative resources that were not otherwise provided by my healthcare providers.

Breast cancer the second time around for me was devastating and debilitating; more than I ever could have imagined. Discovering Unite For Her was a huge silver living in my treatment process; an immeasurably uplifting experience; a little slice of heaven. The organization has heart. It asserts the spirit of gracious giving with informed intent: each of the many programs provided (free of charge) fit the needs of both supporting and re-building breast cancer survivors, one at a time, at their specific phase of readiness, while providing a community of genuine care and concern for the individuals' personal success. From Sue Weldon to staff members, volunteers, and service providers, everybody demonstrates compassion, with a flare for making you feel good and not so alone. They know the struggles. You are not a cancer patient in their ranks, you are a person walking the same path that some of them have walked, coming to a safe place for guidance, help and support. There is something helpful and soothing for everyone in their program offerings. After a day at their Wellness Events, you come away feeling empowered - by the good, useful information and supportive remedies they offer; you feel raised above your current circumstances by the community and remarkable dedication they portray. Unite For Her is true to their mission. They serve breast cancer survivors wholeheartedly, and they do it very well. I am thankful to have had the opportunity to participate in their events.

UNITE for Her - what a terrific organization! I, like many other women, thought I could handle this on my own. I was wrong. I had a double mastectomy, chemo and reconstruction. I was never in denial but, at times, in disbelief. How could this happen to me?! I was always healthy with no cancer history in our family. I struggled to keep my spirit positive. The hair loss was devastating. One of the nurses at the breast center stayed on top of me to attend a UNITE for Her Wellness Day and I finally went. It was amazing. Not only to be with other women who were going through the same thing but to form a special bond with these women in one day. Turns out all the things I was feeling was common. UNITE provides such a wonderful support system and so many resources! There are many breast cancer organizations doing great things for women, UNITE is different. They taught me how to take better care of myself. I eat better, get therapeutic massages, more routine doctor appointments and in general make my health a priority. Something I previously took for granted. I recommend anyone going through breast cancer to seek out UNITE for Her. Women have a tendency to think they are superwoman and can handle everything on their own - breast cancer was just too much for me. Getting involved with UNITE was one of the best things I've done.

I agree with a prior reviewer...I did not really want to attend the Wellness Day. But, was I surprised, pleased, and energized once I did. This is an excellent organization that raises funds locally and SHOCK spends them on women locally who are going through the process of breast cancer. They are an accountable organization. I must admit, I've soured on the whole 'pink' thing with the Komen organization because I don't see results, only hear about obnoxious salaries for the top people in that organization. This group, Unite for Her, is on track and doing what they set out to do...provide support and options for local breast cancer women. Kudos! And, most of all, thank you....

As 36 year old mother of 4, nursing my youngest, I discovered a lump in my breast. This set me on a journey that I never thought I would undertake, with no family history of breast cancer. Here I am, though, a year later, with a unique story to tell about genetic mutation (BRCA2), multiple surgeries (double mastectomy, reconstruction), medications and treatments (chemo, radiation, hormone replacement), body changes (physical and mental scars, side effects, deformity), family unity, and community support. One of the highlights of this journey was my attendance at a Unite for HER function at Phoenixville Hospital. Not only was I provided the opportunity to network with a large group of amazing women who had either been through or were currently going through the same things as I was, but I met multiple organizations and individuals who were genuinely concerned for my physical and mental well-being. From making nutritional needs easy to reach to how to improve the weaknesses of my body, Unite for HER thought of everything. I learned about beauty products that will not harm someone with a history of cancer, and I learned about cleaning products that are better for the environment and community. I learned about the healing properties of acupuncture, Reiki, massage, and yoga. But the greatest lesson I learned from Unite for HER is that I am not on this journey alone, that my unique story joins me to millions of others who walk the same path. The doctors have treated the disease, but Unite for HER has treated my soul. I feel blessed and fortunate to have connected with the program. I benefited from the free, local, organic produce they provided for me and my family, and now all six of us eat better. I benefited from the massage, Reiki, and acupuncture that have managed my symptoms and have aided in not only my physical healing but also in my improved mental state. What this nonprofit offers to the women it serves is life-changing.

Initially, when I was invited to the Unite For Her day, I didn't want to attend. I thought it would be another "group therapy feel sorry for me" session. I was wrong. In fact, I can't even express how wonderful, informative, and helpful this day was for me. So many helpful tips on taking care of yourself, eating healthy, and many volunteers who offered free services to help those live beyond the diagnosis of breast cancer, many survivors themselves. I was waiting to begin radiation therapy and scared to death. I met great people, was introduced to relaxation, and given vouchers for free services. I took advantage of cooking classes, massages, and wonderful farm fresh vegetables. Ladies, breast cancer is not a diagnosis anyone wants to her, but if you hear it, know that this organization is making wonderful strides to help you through it. In the future, I plan to participate as a volunteer and help those who are where I once was.

My nurse insisted that I needed to attend the wellness day UniteForHer sponsored at my hospital. As a young and newly diagnosed 40 yr old mother of three with Stage 2 Level 3 Triple Negative breast cancer, I was in a complete daze for weeks. I did everything they told me because i didn't know what else to do. I had only completed one round of chemo and was still trying to figure out what I was in store for when i went. It was the best thing I could have done. I met so many beautiful, caring women there who were going through the same thing. Sue Weldon then spoke and with such passion you could tell how much Unite for HER means to her and why she has invested so much time into the organization. We were able to expeirence so many wonderful things, from massage & reiki to organic food share and yoga. The services that she offers to you for free are just amazing and such a tremendous help in your healing process.

I had just finished healing from my double mastectomy, then lymph node surgery and was on my third chemo treatment when I attended UniteforHER at Phoenixville Hospital. All through my surgeries and chemo, I kept a brave face and powered through surgery and treatments, not wanting my family or friends to worry if they saw me falter or complain about not feeling well. Being in the same room with all of these amazing women made me realize I wasn't alone, and the love and support that I felt from these complete strangers was overwhelming. Sue Weldon and the entire UniteforHER team are truly an amazing group. I learned so much that day about nutrition, therapies to help deal with some of my side effects, and came home with a boatload of wonderful free stuff that was so generously donated including fresh veggies and vouchers for therapeutic treatments that I would never have been able to afford. Thank you so much for the wonderful service you've provided to all of us.

I was in the midst of chemotherapy treatments when my hospital held their event with Unite for Her. It was a marvelous Uplifting and educational day! I have been using some of the vouchered services with great results. Several months later now I am finished with all of my treatments but needed some physical therapy for my post-lumpectomy shoulder. I revisited the information they provided and found a wonderful therapist. Unite for Her has high standards of care and excellent selection criteria for the resources they make available to patients facing very challenging times. I don't know what I would have done without them!

Initially I thought, "I don't need any help dealing with my cancer." But Unite for Her showed me I could accept their kind help and remain strong! The farm share has been life changing for me and my family. We love trying new recipes for the veggies. And my counseling sessions were really great in that I could talk about my experiences without worrying how the story would affect the listener. The fellowship with my sister survivors at the Einstein Wellness Day was super! And speaking personally to Sue Weldon helped me greatly. She directed me to the best bra fitter in the area! Unite for Her is, in a word, fantastic.

I received my diagnosis of Stage 2 Her 2 + breast cancer the day before my first day of the new school year in 2013. As a kindergarten teacher ready and anxious to meet a new group of students, I was completely devastated. My cancer dictated that chemo begin immediately, so on the first day when I would have been attending an in-service, I was having my port surgically implanted! My first chemo was Friday the 13th of September, and it was off and running from there. My treatment took place at Lankenau, and the social worker there told me about an upcoming Unite for Her Day which was going to occur in November. I was crazy nervous about going, but decided that being proactive could only be a good thing. What an incredible day it was. I gained so much knowledge, felt such empowerment at a time of helplessness, and met other women who were going through the same thing I was. Even more important, I met women who were volunteering who were finished with treatment and appeared healthy and strong. So many gifts came from that day - for me personally, the vouchers to try acupuncture were probably the most meaningful. I would never have thought I would be someone to do acupuncture, yet I must say that it probably is the reason that I got through some pretty nasty chemo with only a minimum of distress. I was happy to be able to attend this year's event as a volunteer - Unite for Her is a remarkable organization!!!

They helped me manage side effects with their generous vouchers for acupuncture and helped me take charge of what I could control with my body. I had a mastectomy to treat my breast cancer. I ended up with infection related to the initial reconstruction procedure. I attended a local Unite for Her program right after surgery to treat the infection. I was weak and having side effects from the medications. Thanks to Unite for Her, I received acupuncture therapy with great results! The nutritional advice and food share was so helpful in my recovery from the infection. It has taken over a year and 4 surgeries but now I am a breast cancer survivor! Great organization!

Twenty-four years ago I was diagnosed with breast cancer and had a mastectomy. So much time had gone by I was convinced I was cured. Right before Xmas last year I was shocked to learn I again had breast cancer and needed to have another mastectomy. While not being completely panicked I eas very sad to have to go thru this again and worried about the future. When I completed my treatment my doctor suggested that I sign up for a Unite For Her day . I did so and then forgot about it as it was several months in the future. A volunteer called to remind me in Sept. And after juggling my schedule I able to attend. What a wonderful day! I cannot find words adequate to say what a lift it gave me. This was a day completely devoted to women who have gone through the experience of breast cancer. It gave me new knowledge, a time of pampering, new hope and confidence in myself plus a feeling of community and love surrounding me. What a phenomenal organization!

At the age of 38, I was suddenly diagnosed with stage 2 agressive breast cancer during an early detection baseline mammogram. As a young wife and mother of two, I was completely overwhelmed. I was told in a Thursday after two unsuccessful lumpectomies that my cancer was growing rapidly and I would have to start chemotherapy 4 days later. I was beside myself and very down in the dumps. My social worker from Penn realized that when she called me the next day. That was the call that changed my life forever. Eleanor suggested that I attend a Unite for Her wellness day that Sunday at the Terrain in Glen Mills, Pa. I agreed. That day educated me in so many ways and brought a sense of calmness and peace that I can't explain. It was amazing to be educated about your choices, surrounded by people who truly cared and resources that helped in that moment. When I went to my first chemotherapy session the nurse commented that she never saw someone as young as me be so calm and relaxed during treatment. My comment was, it is because of Unite for Her! They gave me the power, confidence and resources to know that I can fight this. Thanks to the best organization in the world, I can get accupuncture and messages to help me though treatment and organic vegetables to eat healthier.
I truly can't say enough about how truly amazing this organization is and how blessed I am to find them!

This was so fantastic and helped me immensely while I was still getting radiation and chemo for breast cancer. It was a terrific program that taught me nutrition, all about foods, makeup and seeing the other women, I didn't feel so alone with my bald head and scarf. I was just one of the women. Some I had seen in the chemo room, lab or just around doctors offices.
I came home so excited about this program. Definitely lifted my spirits with the various speakers and I loved the giveaway of the farm fresh vegetables. I even learned how to make and recognize them. Thanks for the best day I had at that time.

I am a former client who benefited from the services provided by Unite for HER. This is an unbelievable program offering education, programs, therapies and support to breast cancer survivors and families as well as preventive education to the local community. My personal wellness journey was in part made possible by this organization and its dedicated volunteers. It is difficult for me to express the difference this has made in my life as the impact was truly that great.

I believe so much in this organization that I now serve as a volunteer at events and with fundraising to further Unite for HER's efforts to empower, educate and Restore.

Unite for HER is an AMAZING organization! My family and I volunteer countless hours for their major annual event, the Pink Invitational, as well as for other smaller events. Knowing that the funds raised go DIRECTLY to LOCAL women affected by breast cancer makes us proud to be part of the Unite for HER events. The founder, Sue Weldon, is a breast cancer survivor herself and knows first hand what it is like to make yourself physically and mentally whole again after treatment....who better to run an organization than a woman that has experienced breast cancer first hand! And, Sue PERSONALLY attends all of the wellness days and works directly with the benefactors...something you hardly ever see in a non-profit organization.

One of my favorite things about Unite for HER is the Students Unite for HER program. Sue Weldon personally speaks to young athletes about healthy, "clean", cancer-preventative living. Educating young girls and women is key in our battle against breast cancer and Unite for HER reaches thousands of young people each year. Sue is such a great speaker and I love watching the reactions of the athletes when she comes to talk to them. She talks about "easy" lifestyle changes and doesn't overwhelm them. It is such an effective way to let our kids know how they can make the right choices to protect their bodies.

So blessed to be part of the Unite for HER group of volunteers!!!!
