I have been affiliated with the West Chester Area Senior Center for the past year. I can't express strongly enough how impressed I am with this organization. I consider myself extremely fortunate to have had the opportunity to interact with the entire staff and many of the members. All at this Center live the mission of the organization to "Enrich the lives of our senior neighbors through friendship, activities, nourishment and education". I have seen this first hand time and time again. This organization not only provides tremendous services to our valued senior community, but also exemplifies the way a non-profit organization should be run. Over 3,400 seniors benefit from these services and more than 28,000 meals were served last year (many at little or no charge to the seniors). Over 14,000 program sessions are provided annually with the help of 425+ volunteers. If you are a senior looking for a place to make friends, exercise, play cards, learn something new, or just spend some time with others in a beautiful facility, please stop in and say hello.
Huge kudos to the team at the West Chester Senior Center. They are so involved with the needs of the seniors in the borough & beyond. They provide assistance with navigating the computer, daily exercise options, help with taxes, lunch, & now their latest venture, a food pantry. When there is not a public health emergency, & most importantly, the senior center provides a safe & comfortable place to socialize with friends.
The West Chester Senior Center is truly an organization that can reinvent themselves even under the extreme circumstances of our recent pandemic. When our Center had to be closed we went into "crisis mode" and began a food distribution program to feed our most needed seniors and then expanded it to a once in a week food distribution program that has served over 165,000 meals since Covid-19! We have now added a fully functioning food program know as the Corner Cabinet which will be able to serve our community and seniors for years to come. Truly remarkable staff and organization that has the best interest of our seniors!
The West Chester Area Senior Center currently in it's 44th year serving the Borough of West Chester and seven surrounding townships enriches it's senior neighbors through friendship, activities, education and nourishment. With over 3400 seniors served per year through programs such as informational and referral sessions, various program sessions, exercise classes, partnerships with the many community organizations, health and wellness programs, seniors are able to have a place to feel safe and enjoy all the programs and friendships that are offered by this community organization. All of this is made possible by a dedicated staff and hundreds of volunteers with the common goal to provide the best resources for our senior community.
An amazing organization servicing the senior community in the West Chester area. Through this tough Covid year, the WCASC continues to move forward with services and meals. Now, an amazing 150,000 to 170,000 meals have been served throughout this year. Throughout the Covid headwinds this organization has improved the facility with new flooring, security, convenience tools, and a designated food service area that will provide even better food opportunities. All these improvement will be recognized when the center opens its doors again. This organization is not sitting still!
The epitome of making lemonade out of lemons, the West Chester Area Senior Center had to close its doors in March 2020 as we all entered the COVID-19 shutdown and overnight developed a food distribution program that fed up to 700 seniors per week. In the first 12 months, the Center provided 150,000 meals and is continuing to do this good work through its brand new permanent “Corner Cabinet” food distribution room onsite to provide meals and food for seniors for many years to come. In addition, the Center has worked hard to find creative ways to keep its seniors engaged during this stressful and often lonely time through its PenPal program, providing telephone assistance, and other meaningful programming. It is my privilege to be serving on this Board!
I am so impressed with the level and variety of support the center provides to the senior community. Not one beat was missed during Covid and their true dedication was evident by how successfully they pivoted in 2020. I saw first hand a food distribution program developed overnight that fed up to 700 seniors weekly during the pandemic. The center provided 150,000 meals in the 12 months following the closure forced by COVID-19 in March 2020. They found creative ways to keep our beloved seniors engaged during the pandemic – not only food, but a new Pen Pal program, telephone assistance, outdoor walks, etc. Through the help of many volunteers, seniors can take exercise classes, get computer help, or just visit with friends. This non-profit provides tremendous value to our senior community and I am honored to be a part of its future.
Thank you so much for all your hard work and support serving the community during this difficult time. The staff's kindness , compassion, resilience and strength are greatly appreciated.
I have had the pleasure of working with this team of superstars for a few years and they have always impressed me with their positive attitude and genuine level of caring for the seniors that they serve. But then came the pandemic and were some places closed their doors this phenomenal team took a minute and said how far can we open our doors to insure that seniors have all that they need provided to them safely and efficiently. Rain storms ,blazing heat and humidity never stopped them from collecting and distributing their weekly drive thru customers. They are small but they are mighty and always with smiles kindness and patience. This is a team to be celebrated as they are some of the true heroes of the pandemic.
I have volunteered many times at the WCSC and what a wonderful non-profit organization this is! During those time I have seen how this organization has reached out to the community especially the senior adults in the community. During the hardest time during the COVID-19 pandemic the center thought outside of the box and developed a food distribution program that fed up to 700 seniors weekly. From the chilly weather of winter, to the heat of the summer WCSC employees and volunteers were there to giving out food!
The West Chester Area Senior Center has now distributed over 165,000 meals since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic! Great job to all the folks at the WCASC!
Great place for Seniors to get together and enjoy breakfast and lunch (pre-covid). Currently, one of a few local places where Seniors can stop by on Wednesday mornings to pick up some meals for the week ahead.
Leadership and staff do an excellent job with treating all Seniors with compassion.
I teach a class at WCASC. People there are so welcoming and you feel that you want to go back whenever you have any free time. I loved teaching there and seeing everybody's face! My class was always around lunch time. It smelled so good around lunch time. I have never eaten the food but I always saw a lot of people enjoying the meal! I am 100 % sure everyone who have been there misses the place as we cannot go there due to Covid 19. Hope we can go back there soon.

I have been bringing senior nursing students to the West Chester Area Senior Center for their health promotion course for more than five years. The students and I have thoroughly enjoyed working with the seniors and staff at the center. We look forward to each day at the senior center because upon our arrival we are greeted by an enthusiastic staff, a group of smiling seniors, and the opportunity to participate in a variety of high quality programs designed to enhance the quality of life and well-being of seniors. My students have stated, “We wish that we could spend more time at the center. It is an ideal place for health promotion clinical. It is such a happy place.”
A wonderful non-profit organization! By providing an abundance of wellness activities and essential services, they help our area Seniors to remain independent and connected to their community.
I am honored and happy to be a volunteer for this population and the Center.
WCASC offers a multitude of programs and services for seniors. I have been in the center many times these past few years and always see activity, smiles and groups of friends enjoying each other's company. The team there is friendly and Jess, in particular, makes sure that there is something for everyone.
Their Night at the Races has become tradition!
I’ve been teaching a Tai Chi class at WC senior center for quite a few years. Every time I enter the building, I receive a warm greeting and a big smile. I’ve constantly witnessed the staff running activities, or saying hello during lunch etc. All the members I’ve come to know or have spoken to, love the staff and different activities. It’s a great place for seniors to socialize and it’s a safe environment!
I've been involved with the WCSC for years and I am so honored to be a part of this wonderful family! The staff and members are wonderful! The center offers so much to the community! I reccomend West Chester Senior Center to anyone looking for a friendly environment and very supportive group!
The WCASC is tremendous in meeting the needs of the West Chester Community Seniors. Huge numbers of volunteers work to make this center a true "home away from home." Lives up to the motto, " Enriching the lives of our senior neighbors through friendship, activities, education, and nourishment." All kinds of activities... meals, exercise, help with taxes and Medicare, cards, fashion shows, etc. Multi-Generational program with the Chester County Family Academy brings young and olf together. Emergency Food Program during the pandemic. Every day, the WCASC works hard and effectivly to meet the everyday needs of WC's Seniors!
This center provides opportunities for everyone to participate in, no matter your age or your physical ability. The staff is very friendly and always willing to help you with whatever you need.
As a senior-serving professional, West Chester Area Senior Center is one that I am constantly referring to for my clients. The resources, programming, and community at WCASC far exceed what I've seen at other centers during my career. The staff and members are engaged, enthusiastic, and open to trying new things. I look forward to my visits there!
I am very fortunate to be associated in a small way with the Senior Center as board member for the past three years. Strong leadership at the top of this organization has continued to provide essential basic benefits to the community in the most daunting situations. The continuous daily challenges are met with "what do we need to do to make this happen." This unwavering attitude ultimately results in ongoing success each and every day. Jeff L
Before Covid hit, the WCASC was my home away from home, playing cards and socializing. I am a former Board member and loved volunteering for their fund raisers. Since they closed in March they have delivered over 32,000 meals to seniors in need. What an amazing feat. The center has been open for 45 years and has become a haven for so many seniors in the West Chester area. The management and employees are always ready to help with whatever your needs are. Can’t wait until it is open again.
WCASC is my home away from home since I retired 6 years ago. I love playing cards and socializing. They offer so many activities that everyone will find something they will enjoy. I have been on the Board of Directors for 4 years and enjoy volunteering my time for their fund raising events.
I have served with the Center for almost 10 years and have enjoyed every minute of being part of what this amazing organization does. 2020 has been no exception to the feats of greatness that this organization accomplishes year after year. In my mind the most tremendous of those feats was an Emergency Food Distribution Program that in its first four months, served 32,600 meals with the help of our small staff and many community partners and donors. I am proud to be part of an organization that even in the worst of times, they become a shining star for those seniors in need.
I have been affiliated with the Center, in one way then another, since 2006., and it is a fantastic service for the people of West Chester. I was never more impressed than I am with their efforts to continue the innovative delivery of services to seniors during the pandemic shutdown.
Watching the seniors enjoy the meals and the activities ( pre-Covid) has given me great joy. I have been involved for several years with WCASC’s annual fundraising event.
I know that the staff has been doing all they can during the pandemic to make sure none of their folks go hungry. Thank you guys for all that you do.
I joined the Board of the West Chester Area Senior Center a year ago. I will always remember the moment I walked through the doors that first day. I was greeted with warm smiles from the volunteers, staff and every senior I passed. As I walked through the facility, my heart was overflowing. This center is an amazing place, where everyone is welcomed with open arms. I have never met a group of people that loved their jobs so deeply and were so dedicated. The staff is literally amazing, they give this center their heart and soul and care deeply for every one of its seniors. The staff is supported by 250 volunteers, donating 21,000 hours per year to providing breakfast and lunch, along with 14,000+ program sessions each year. This environment doesn't happen just anywhere, it is a product of dedicated staff, and board members along with the strength of its many volunteers.
My husband was on the board for 6 years and I was very proud of his service. With him being active I found out about this Excellent organization. I feel this is a very well run, very professional and definitely a friendly kind staff. I feel it give a safe and happy environment for our elders. With getting older I hope this Senior Center is still around so I can be a part of this fun organization. Please continue to services to our seniors for many years to come. Thank you!!
Serving our Seniors as a board member of the West Chester Area Senior Center has provided me with an up close view of how dedicated volunteers with excellent leadership can change the lives of our community. With the COVID crisis threatening the well being of so many, the West Chester Area Senior Center pulled out all the options available and brought hope and smiles to our seniors along with 36,000 meals! This is Community Action at its best.
West Chester Area Senior Center gives back to those who most need it. Serving more than 28,000 meals each year to thousands of seniors living below the poverty level, providing health checks, exercise classes and much more, WCASC delivers everyday through the efforts of more than 600 volunteers. There is a spirit that emanates from WCASC that can only be called “Goodness.”
I’m a recent board member. I am blown away at the services that the WCASC provides. Beyond the 42,000 meals it provided last year. Beyond the 3400+ seniors that enjoy the center. The center is a social, meals, wellness and information provider that serves such an important group of people. The dedication of the staff is like no other! Passion for their work does not describe how much they love their work. Through these uncertain and tough times the Center marches on servicing the community.
As a board member for the past three years it has been a pleasure and honor to be part of a Nonprofit community who has served our seniors for the past 45 years. This Center is built on a solid foundation of over 250 volunteers along with a dedicated staff and Board who truly believe in the motto "Enriching the lives of our senior neighbors through friendship, activities, education and nourishment". Due to COVID-19 it has been a challenge for all of us especially our seniors. Through dedication, commitment, donations and care, the Senior Center was able to keep it's promise to our seniors by providing an Emergency Food Distribution Program and distribute over 32,600 meals in just the first four months to seniors in need. This Senior Center is a Top-Rated Non-Profit program that continues to invest and re-invent themselves to better serve and provide for our senior community.
I am simply amazed with how this non-profit has been able to help during this pandemic. In just 4 months, the center has been able to distribute over 32,600 meals to their seniors in need. Without the dedicated staff, volunteers and especially the community partners getting behind all of this, none of this could have been accomplished.
Great work by all!!
Being a part of the West Chester Area Senior Center is one of the most fulfilling roles I have played in my career. The Center's staff work tirelessly to provide a safe, enjoyable environment for our seniors. There is something for everyone there including exercise classes, health and wellness screenings and a plethora of programs that provide meaningful and engaging activities including cross generational opportunities for or members. When the global health crisis hit this year the Center pivoted from on-site meal service to weekly meal and food deliveries to hundreds of seniors in need. To date we have surpassed 28,000 meal deliveries since March with plans to continue to service this urgent need.
The West Chester Area Senior Center is a place for life long learning! There are always exciting programs happening! The friendly, caring staff have a strong commitment to the health and wellness of their members offering many programs for wellness and self care. Make new friends in classes of your interest; gardening, music appreciation, exercising or try a moving meditation Qigong class. This place is sure to keep your mind and body moving! Stop in, try out a class or program. You will be greeted by the welcoming volunteers and members!
Terrific place. Home away from home for so many. Meet and spend the day with your friends. Have your main meal for the day. Play cards. Take an exercise class. Learn how to use the computer. It all happens at WCASC. Beautiful facility. Great atmosphere. Also, a great place to volunteer.
The WCASC is truly a home away from home for so many seniors in the West Chester area. Their mission and motto is," Enriching the lives of our senior neighbors through friendship, activities, education and nourishment." The terrific staff and large numbers of volunteers accomplish this mission every day. Without this organization, West Chester Seniors would not have the opportunity to socialize, have a meal prepared for them, get exercise, play cards, learn how to operate a computer, get assistance with Medicare issues, and see a friendly smile. WCASC is a tremendous community resource!
The West Chester Area Senior Center feels like a home away from home as soon as you walk inside. The staff and volunteers truly care about every facet of well being of their members - from physical wellness, financial wellness, life-long learning, and everything in between. The greater West Chester community is undoubtedly a better place for our seniors because of the West Chester Area Senior Center.
I have been involved with the West Chester Area Senior Center since 2003.
It is a fun and friendly spot for local seniors to spend the day! It is always bustling with people, smiles, and activity. From breakfast, lunch, and snacks, to exercise programs, to classes in everything from computers to languages, to just sitting quietly and enjoying a cup of coffee in the café, “The Center” is a warm and welcoming place. The Center also serves as an important information hub for seniors. There are in-person information and referral services available and we host AARP’s annual tax preparation services--my 90-year old Mom has taken advantage of this service for a few decades now!
The West Chester Area Senior Center lives its mission everyday…Enriching the lives of our senior neighbors through friendship, activities, education, and nourishment.
For over 40years our Senior Center has been a hub of activity for the West Chester community! Excellent breakfasts (best pancakes around), fun activities, opportunities to learn and make friends—all these combine to make WCASC a very special place.
I’ve been connected with WCASC for several years. The facts that they welcome 3400 seniors each year, have served nearly 29,000 meals in 2018, and boasts more than 400 volunteers who gave nearly 31,000 hours are secondary to one thing... the WCASC offers friendship and a welcoming “place to be” for so many who may find themselves alone. A wide array of programs allow all members to participate in activities that interest them. A meal shared with others brings smiles to so many who might otherwise be eating alone. A small staff supports a large purpose and their dedication is evident every day. I am in awe of what is accomplished each and every day in this organization.
No senior left behind! I have witnessed the vitality, spirit and support members offer each other through meals, exercise and activities. The WCASC is not only a hub of activity EVERY day, but is a lifeline for so many who might not otherwise have a hearty meal each day. The resources available to members include assistance with tax prep, navigating the complicated world of insurance, health screenings, etc. An amazing staff juggles time, resources and of course, funding on a daily basis and still provide seamless, unparalleled programs.
They have 30,680 hours of volunteer service per year – an over 1 MILLION dollar value! Spectacular choice for people looking to make a difference!
Excellent organization. Very well run. Professional and kind staff. One of the most amazing services for seniors with many years of experience serving the West Chester and surrounding communities. Love this place!
Chester County Family Academy and the WCASC share a vision, we both strive to make a difference in lives of young and old in our community. CCFA students are fortunate to walk out one door and enter into the WCASC and be surrounded by caring adults that help children develop life skills, builds self-esteem and confidence. The Grand Friends intergenerational program creates memories of a life time.
The WCASC provides a fun and secure environment for many of our Senior Citizens. I'm proud to be a Board Member of a fantastic organization. The staff and volunteers are project and goal oriented with the major goal of keeping our Seniors active , healthy ,engaged and happy ...Mission accomplished !
Best senior center in PA. I’ve been working with them for five years. They live and breathe helping seniors make their lives better every day!
I have been involved with the West Chester Area Senior Center for many years. Is one of my happy places. The seniors are always busy taken different classes, enjoying a meal together or just hanging out. The staff, board members and volunteers are always making sure everyone feels safe and welcome! I love this place and the services we provided.
The West Chester Area Senior Center is a much needed staple for Chester County's aging population. Nutritious meals, cognitive engagement, physical & cognitive exercise, access to tax & medical resources, and inter-generational activities are services seniors need to stay healthy and to retain quality of life. The WC Senior Center excels at offering ALL OF THIS AND MORE!
Just give a quick call to any of the area adult day care centers or assisted living communities to see how much this type of engagement would cost and the value of the WC Senior Center is immediately established. From foreign language classes, to exercise classes, hot meals, parties, outings, and more - the WC Senior Center has so much to offer.
The WC Senior Center is also extraordinarily effective in the stewardship of its funds. Much of the work performed at the Center is done on a volunteer basis - some of the volunteers give more than 2,000 hours/year (that's more than a full time job!)!
There are so many positive attributes about the WC Senior Center, I could go on for pages.... Suffice it to say it is a much-needed community resource that does a great job at providing for its participants.
The West Chester Senior Center has been a very valuable community health partner. Our collaboration in providing blood pressure and hydration screenings, a Parkinson's Disease Support Group and an annual Falls Prevention and Awareness Expo at the center is testimony to their commitment to the wellness of our senior population. Everyone at the center goes above and beyond to make sure the needs of our older adults are met!
The WCASC is a "happening place." There is an activity for everybody, from exercise, to computer classes to QiGong and yoga. The staff, volunteers and members are always so welcoming. If you are looking to make new friends, take a class, have breakfast or lunch then I recommended joining the WCASC.
The West Chester Senior Center is one of the finest organizations serving seniors in Chester County. Their programs are first class, their staff are professional and dedicated and the environment is a very welcoming, family type environment.
With the help of over 44,000 volunteer hours, this incredible staff serves over 28,000 meals to over 3,500 seniors. Add to that the countless classes, Health and Wellness programs, assistance in navigating Medicare and Medicaid, and tax preparation assistance, this West Chester gem serves our seniors with dignity and great care. Plus, it's a fun place to be!
WCASC is a fabulous organization in West Chester catering to the area senior population. This is a haven for our community seniors to meet, eat and socialize. There are various courses and exercise programs offered daily. The annual " Night at the Races" fund raising events is always sold out. It's a blast. Buy your tickets early!! A very involved Board and Staff make the WCASC a welcome destination for our "mature" friends and neighbors.
West Chester Area Senior Center provides meals for 3,500 seniors each year. They offer programs all day long for information, health & exercise and just good fun. They partnership with other community organizations such as Chester County Family Academy, Chester County Department of Aging and the local Rotary Club. The staff is always friendly and inviting. They offer a safe clean environment for our seniors.
