Epilepsy Foundation Of Wisconsin Inc

Programs: Client services - the foundation served 2,969 direct clients during the year ended 6/30/17. During the year, the foundation sponsored 9 educational dinner meetings attended by 443 consumers. The foundation served 1,572 clients through support groups during the year. In september and october, 2016, the foundation conducted studioe, a six-week art therapy program, for 27 adults with epilepsy. The foundation conducted a week-long residential summer camp in august 2016 for kids and had 12 children from our service area attend,an adult retreat in september 2016 with 42 attendees from our area and hosted siblings day for brothers and sisters of kids with disabilities, with 20 in attendance. The foundation sent 2 staff and 2 volunteer families to "teens speak up", a public policy institute, in washington, dc in april 2017. 87 parents attended 3 pace programs (parent and caregiver education). 85 families participated in funne programs (familias unidos con ninos con necessidades especiales) including monthly support group meetings.

public health education - the foundation conducted public health education, which reached 1,378 school-aged children. The foundation conducted employer training programs for 162 people. 135 school nurses received at least one hour of seizure awareness and first aid training and 304 school personnel received 1 hour of seizure recognition and first aid training. During the year ended 6/30/17, 133 senior day care staff received seizure recognition and first aid training. The foundation conducted other seizure recognition and first aid presentations, reaching 2,023 adults.

community services - the foundation participated in county disability coalitions, developmental disabilities councils, statewide survival coalition and united way agency executive groups in dane county, rock county, green county and dodge county which benefit people and families with epilepsy or the disability community in general. Community service includes advocacy on behalf of the wider disability community and that work is accomplished through collaboration with other disability groups and human service providers.

during the year ended 6/30/17, the foundation conducted the advances in epilepsy treatment conference on the campus of the marshfield clinic attended by 88 people. In march of 2017 two staff attended a cdc skill building training conference in washington, dc.
