Mission: The epilepsy association is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to helping people cope with and manage seizure disorders by improving their quality of life, while empowering individuals to reach their full potential within the community.
Programs: Patient services - provides mental health case management, counseling, and diagnostic assessment services to clients dually diagnosed with epilepsy and a mental health condition. Clients meet with agency social workers to establish individualized goals. Emphasis is placed on consumer choice, maintaining medical stability, and improving the quality of life for clients.
public health education - provides educational presentations to a variety of community groups which may include, students, teachers, and the general public to increase awareness and understanding of epilepsy. Education is provided about epilepsy facts, seizure recognition, and epilepsy first aid, or will address specific epilepsy questions or needs.
community services - provides information and appropriate referrals within the community. Literature, videos, and other materials are provided to address questions from individuals in the community about epilepsy. A support group meets on a monthly basis to assist clients in coping with epilepsy and provides education to update members on relevant topics.
