Mission: The eac finds legal and policy solutions for a healthy environment. Our work focuses on encouraging both government enforcement of the law and the private sectors compliance with the law, to ensure clean water.
Programs: Our concentrated animal feeding operation (cafo) initiative examines cafo practices, state and local oversight of cafo expansion, and impacts on local communities and the environment. We oversee new and existing cafos to ensure that each operation is complying with it discharge permit, and that each new permit issued by the state complies with all requirements.
our oil and gas initiative takes aim at industry practices across the nation. We examine both conventional and unconventional exploration, production and disposal of oil and gas wastes by industry, and the regulatory schemes design to oversee and enforcement those industries. We have focused our enforcement and advocacy efforts in ca, pa and md
