Causes: Leadership Development
Mission: To provide leadership instruction, teamwork, and heritage, that will increase quality of service for sailors and their families. This is accomplished through comprehensive interactive programs and settings from a pool of active and retired military as well as community leaders.
Programs: Chief petty officer pride day is a single day event to celebrate the leadership and teamwork of navy chief petty officers, a position 125 years old. This celebration also allows the san diego cpo community to provide a day of service to the local community as well as to witness navy teamwork and leadership during this public event with 3,000 participants. Active duty, retired, and guests are all welcome.
the foundry class teaches leadership development with focus areas of speak, share, and shadow. In 2017, 120 navy first class petty officer students and 25 chief petty officer mentors benefited from this biannual program that changed their leadership habits and positively impacted their life and the lives of those they lead.
chief petty officer legacy academy provides instruction on teamwork alongside chief and navy heritage. 130 navy enlisted chief petty officer selectees and 35 chief petty officers attended. Two classes run back to back in august and september to help leaders (selectees) transition to their new promotion and prepare for leading former peers and junior sailors. This command greatly improves command morale and success.
