Mission: To work to eliminate domestic violence in the latino immigrant community and to promote healthy families through comprehensive domestic violence intervention services in spanish, preventative community education policy advocacy and leadership development.
Programs: Intervention services- offer direct services for both victims of domestic violence and their children, including crisis intervention, safety planning, assessment, individual and group counseling, parenting and life- skills classes, and legal representation. We also offer advocacy and support, so victims are assisted in obtaining services and are able to self-advocate on issues such as housing, health, financial matters, employement, etc. We served more than 1,000 individuals in central new mexico.
prevention strategies- build leadership among latino immigrant youth and adults who have experienced domestic violence and engages them to inform and educate the latino immigrant community about their rights as immigrant victims of domestic violence and the services available to them in central new mexico. We also work with trained latino immigrant leaders to develop and implement anti-violence media outreach campaigns in spanish and educate service providers in central new mexico about rights of baterred immigrants and the barriers that they face. We also work to change policies that affect immigrant victims. Through different media and educational campaigns, we have reached thousands of new mexicans.
rental assistance/transitional housing program - the mission of enlace comunitario's rental assistance/transitional housing program is to provide rental assistance to individuals and families who are fleeing or are atiempting to flee some sort of abuse, such as domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking, who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, so that they may achieve housing stability and safety from violence. Potential tenants are identified by enlace comunitario case managers, counselors and other staff members. Potential tenants are clients who are currently receiving services at enlace comunitario. Additionally, enlace comunitario collaborates with other non profits, state and local agencies, and other providers who will refer victims of domestic violence and other forms of abuse who may be eligible for the rental assistance/transitional housing program to enlace comunitario.
