Mission: Encuentros Institute not only promotes research in the field of Spanish Colonial cultures but more importantly seeks to discover the more subtle messages and meanings of life’s journey which its art and customs reveal. “The real act of discovery consists, Not in finding new lands, But in seeing with new eyes.” ~ Marcel Proust
Programs: Encuentros Institute (501-c3) was formed out of the Camino Real Project which explores the history of the Royal Road between Mexico City and Santa Fe, New Mexico and the resulting cultural transformations. The focus of the institute has expanded to the study of Spanish colonial art and the ways in which it transcended colonial influence to give rise to a unique form of individual artistic expression in the Americas.
