Causes: International, International Human Rights
Mission: Eg justice promotes human rights, transparency, the rule of law, and civic participation to foster a just society in equatorial guinea. The organization provides impartial and thorough reserach and analysis on the country engages in outreach to the equatoguinean society enters into strategic partnerships with key organizations and institutions conducts advocacy with governments, companies and other organizations and convenes the eg policy forum in the hopes that it will become a key forum for governments, companies, civil societies and other institutions to discuss policy issues taht affect the lives of people of equatorial guinea.
Programs: In 2017 eg justice achieved the following: in april, eg justice conducted an institutional building workshop in equatorial guinea. The three-day workshop included an in-depth training on project development. More than 30 youth activists participated in sessions on effective communication, project management, goal and vision-setting, and defining a group strategy between members of bata and malabo. Thanks to the partnership with the new york film academy, sin mordaza from venezuela, and yen marre from senegal, 10 equatoguinean artists participated in a three-day workshop conducted in july, in dakar. It was divided in two: 1) youth mobilization and using art to promote human rights, and 2) story-telling through visual media. In september the group somos +, with the support of eg justice, launched a campaign to draw attention to the dire state of schools in equatorial guinea and the need to ensure the right to education. Eg justice worked with locos por cultura network to organize three poetry readings, a drawing session in a public park, and is currently working on another short film that tackles the issue of freedom of expression in the country. In barcelona, eg justice collaborated with e waiso ipola and consejo superior de investigaciones cientificas de espaa, a spanish think tank, to convene a day of expert analysis and discussions. We organized three panels around the state of politics and economics, arts and culture, human rights and anti-corruption in equatorial guinea. Eg justice assisted with presentation of a human rights report on equatorial guinea, organizing featured speakers: lawyers mara jess bikene obiang and aitor martinez-jimenez, and the deputy of podemos in congress rita bosaho gori.
