Causes: Economic Development
Mission: Eco energy finance provides affordable renewable energyproducts to pakistans energy poor in order to improve quality oflife and income-generating opportunities. Working with community members we identify renewable energy products thatare relevant to the needs of the rural poor. We are establishing a distributionnetwork for renewable energy products, through ngos and local entrepreneurs. Finally, we address the financing gap for entrepreneurs through partnerships withmanufacturers and micro finance institutions.
Programs: Ecoenergyfinance has created a mapping tool that allows us to understand the depths of pakistans energy poverty. Every day our field staff of community mobilizers travel to several villages collecting data on the daily energy challenges of rural villagers. Equipped with android phones they report on their village visits, including gps data, photos, duration of electricity, kerosene usage and number of households, among other things. In addition to mapping electricity access, the data that we collect allows us to understand deeper issues of poverty along these remote last mile locations and respond with products that are most relevant to their needs.
