Mission: The Disabled Chicago Police Officers Association, DCPOA, founded in November, 1998, grew out of need to offer disabled Chicago Police Officers and their families a better 'quality of life.' For to long, disabled police officers have been GONE & FORGOTTEN by the very city they took an oath of office to SERVE AND PROTECT. The daily pain many of our disabled officers feel is the driving force that keeps our organization focused on the cause. Some of our officers don't feel pain because they are paralyzed. Additionally, a great deal of DCPOA's efforts are directed into Project Have-A-Heart which is primarily a special fund for families and children of disabled Police Officers who are in desperate need of financial, medical, and educational assistance. DCPOA has a educational and scholarship fund in place for officers who are permanently injured in the line of duty, and who ultimately lose their lives. DCPOA goal is to educate the public on the plights of disabled police officers, in addition, to educating the new police recruits on the many difficulties disabled police officers and their families experience. For too long, for many years, police officers nationwide who were injured or disabled n the line of duty have been hidden from the public view. DCPOA wants to change that with your help. Won't you please help us, help them.
