Mission: The museum produces public exhibitions, events, and online content
Programs: Extraordinary playscapes is our traveling exhibition program presenting the latest thinking in playground design and play science. From towering treetop paths to hand-knit crochet playgrounds, visitors discover how designers engage diverse communities to translate play objectives into meaningful environments. The exhibit travelled to 3 cities in 2016, and we just published an exhibition catalog about the exhibition.
urban innovation festival demonstrates how design can transform the urban environment; we partnered with massdot and other local organizations to produce a 3-day hack-a-thon to reimagine a historically underutilized highway underpass, at the intersection of 3 boston neighborhoods. Teams competed, were paired with community liasons, and created new placemaking concepts with help from the public. the center for workplace innovation exists to demonstrate how design can transform the way we work. The center is part think tank, part resource. We produce events and workshops throughout the year, along with an annual summit bringing together diverse thought leaders and to inspire change.
