Causes: Arts & Culture, Singing & Choral Groups
Mission: Davis advanced treble choir empowers a group of youg women by enriching their lives with a unique music education and lasting friendships. They strive to enable young women to be respected in the community by sharing their music at various functions.
Programs: For 2016/2017 the choir was comprised of 29 girls and one female accompanist. The girls had a number of performances which included singing holiday music at the california state capital, performing at the wine pour, davis high idol competition, a pops concert and several sporting events. They also volunteer with other local non-profit groups singing octets at various venues. Another highlight of the year was the workshop led by deke sharon at davis senior high school. He is a leading proponent, composer, and arranger of modern a capella music, and helped them perfect some of the musical pieces they performed in the spring at the pops concert.
in february the choir traveled to new york with chaperones to learn and experience music with some of the great talent our country has to offer. While there they attended performances of "wicked","the phantom of the opera" and "carmen". They also attended workshops with the casts of both "wicked and "phantom" as well as a women's acapella group and eugene sirotkine, the former assistant conductor of the new york metropolitan opera. One of the goals of these learning experiences was to help atc members improve their tone quality, artistic style and traits of the songs they'll be performing.
