Mission: Dance Through Time (DTT) is a performing arts organization that is committed to preserving social dance heritage. DTT draws on over 20 years of experience and a repertoire of over 175 dances from the 15th century to the present. DTT performs and teaches year-round during national tours, home seasons, special events, classes, lecture-demos and residencies. Community Outreach programs, video archives and modern notation preserve the Company's work for future generations. DTT's recent milestones include its 10th national tour, performances in New York and Los Angeles, and an authentic Baroque performance at the Palace of Versailles in France.
Programs: As a resource for historical social dance, DTT designs unique performances for all types of special events. Through performing, teaching, and taxi dancing, DTT helps to create memorable special events while also educating the public about social dance traditions. Highlighting the artistic value of social dance, DTT's community outreach programs visit many venues, including schools, senior centers and museums. The performers are experienced teachers and choreographers who present individual programs of lecture-demonstrations, performances, and residencies to meet each community's specific needs. DTT's interdisciplinary approach allows all of the outreach programs to fit easily into school curricula for social studies, literature, art, drama, mathematics, and athletics. DTT also produces original, evening-length musical theater productions for its home seasons and national tours. These performances trace the developments in social dance. The DTT signature revue "DanceTime!" weaves dances from each era together into an exciting, evening length concert. Our newest production "Jumpin' to Jazz: Dancing America's Music" chronicles the growth of social dance during the development of America's very own music: Jazz.
