Programs: Lobbying and legislative activities: the primary activity for the council for employment law equity (cele) is communicating fair, effective, and appropriate employment policies to the employee community, and on selective issues to the u. S. Congress and the administration, as well as to branches of state government. Meetings with staff and members, testimony, regulatory comments, and preparation of letters and handouts are the types of activities to provide information, analysis, and advocacy.
education: among business groups, the legal community, and associations, the cele engages in raising awareness of the importance of sound employment policies. Speeches and preparation of powerpoint presentations are required for this type of activity.
legal briefs: the cele contracts with law firms to produce legal briefs submitted to the courts in cases which involved major employment issues.
media relations: the cele also comments in the media and in public debates and other forums on employment issues of broad interest to employers and employees.
membership development: efforts to expand outreach to potential members and grow membership in the employer community who support our mission.
