Causes: Arts & Culture, Commemorative Events
Mission: Confluence is a community-supported nonprofit with the mission to connect people to places through art and education. We work in collaboration with northwest tribes, communities and celebrated artist maya lin at six sites along the columbia river system.
Programs: At six points along the columbia river system, confluence creates reflective moments that can shape the future of our region. Five projects are complete at cape disappointment near ilwaco, wa. , confluence land bridge at vancouver, wa. , confluence bird blind at the sandy river delta near troutdale, oregon, confluence story circles at sacajawea state park in pasco, wa. , and, confluence listening circle and chief timothy park near clarkston, wa. The final confluence project is at celilo park near the dalles, oregon.
confluence has three educational initiatives: confluence in the classroom connects students with native artists and educators. Confluence in the community creates educational events that fuse art, heritage and the environment. Confluence online is an educational resource for visitors to our sites, communities along the river and teachers connecting their students with native history and culture.
