Volunteer tutors instruct groups of learners below the fourth grade reading level, and volunteer aides assist teachers in the classroom.
student support services -with the guidance of clc's career coaches, learners explore career interests and set self-directed goals. Career coaches help learners develop life and employability skills and advance to jobs, vocational training, college, or other post-secondary education. They also refer learners to community resources to help them address domestic abuse, inadequate shelter, parenting issues, and other challenges that can be barriers to attending classes and reaching goals.
pds - community learning center was awarded, as the sole source provider, the facilitation and consultation project grant for the 16-17 program year. The facilitation and consultation project is one of seven projects which comprise the professional development system in the department of education, bureau of postsecondary and adult education. The purpose of the entire professional development system is to support the continuous improvement of adult education agencies funded by the bureau. Specifically, the facilitation and consultation project supports agencies as they implement new knowledge and skills to improve instructional, case management, and other services provided to adult learners. Such improvement leads to improved (continued on schedule o) adult student learning gains and other performance indicators (employment, obtain high school equivalency, transition to postsecondary education). Staff for this project include the project director, two full time lead consultants, and a cadre of learning coaches. Services to support implementation include yet not limited to coaching, consulting, and communities of practice.
