I have been volunteering for approximately six months; most of the time has been with individual adults. It is good to see that many adults realize that their skills need upgrading and that they are willing to put in the time and effort necessary to upgrade their skills. I find it very rewarding to help them achieve their goals. The CLC does an excellent job of providing classroom instruction and necessary materials to facilitate the learning process.
I am a volunteer in one class which is taught by Stephanie Fahringer. I do not know enough about the whole program to comment. I can say that Ms Fahringer is an excellent and dedicated teacher.
“The Community Learning Center (CLC) has provided a great opportunity to many adult students. The teachers and volunteers have showed a great commitment to students by providing their time and knowledge in areas of reading, writing, and mathematics. Students at the CLC have demonstrated a great appreciation and have really seized upon the opportunity that the CLC provides by committing themselves with hard work and effort to the material presented in the classroom. Ultimately the CLC has improved both the lives of students and the city of Philadelphia through education.”---Chris Fajen: Volunteer
