Mission: The particular business and objects of columbia university press are: to promote the study of economic, historical, literary, philosophical, scientific and other subjects; and to promote and encourage the publication of literary works embodying original research in such subjects.
Programs: Columbia university press is an organization formed to promote the study of various subjects including economics, history,and philosophy, and to encourage the publication of original research works (205 new titles in fy2014 with 4722 titles in print in fy2014). All publications are reviewed by cup's publications committee which is comprised of leading scholars with columbia university and other prestigious institutions. Many cup publications do not generate a return of the initial investment. In addition, these works continue to be made available to serve the scholarly need long beyond the period of profitability.
