Causes: Arts & Culture, Theater
Mission: Provding an artistic and social outlet for children and young adults with intellectual disabilities to foster a sense of community and collective experience with the goal of cultivating the participants creative potential through the creation of theater and art and to provide supportive services to encourage participants to express themselves creatively. Co/lab theater group is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing creative opportunities without limits and boundaries. Co/lab exists to offer individuals with developmental disabilities a creative and social outlet through theater arts.
Programs: Co/lab core: to provide theater workshops in rented space for individuals with developmental disabilities. Approximately 90 individuals are served per year.
co/lab connect: teaching artists travel to various facilities and other programs to conduct theater programs for individuals with developmental disabilities. About 100 - 150 served per year.
piloted theater topics class specifically to engage new participants. Worked with 11 partners through outreach programs (co/lab connect) reached over 300 actors with developmental disabilities.
