Mission: Pave makes excellent educational opportunities possible for low-income families in milwaukee. Pave fulfils this mission by championing good governance and visionary leadership in schools, while equipping them with resources they need to fulfil their missions.
Programs: Expanded the number of high quality seats serving low-income students in milwaukee schools, through building the capacity of schools as independent organizations. This is done through coaching and mentoring school boards and school leaders in the areas of governance, strategic planning, fund development and marketing, human resources, and data-informed decision making. Pave provides one-on-one consulting for board members and leaders of its network schools through pave's in house expertise, as well as third party consultants. Pave provides limited financial assistance to support these third party consulting engagements, as well as targeted financial support for the expansion of high quality schools through bricks and mortar projects. Pave directs these activities toward a network of 58 schools serving nearly 19,000 students in the city of milwaukee. These schools, on average, post significantly higher test score results in math and reading than their counterparts outside of the pave network. The core group of 58 schools that have been part of the network since 2012 have grown from results at the city average to significantly outpacing the average, after 4 years of being in the pave network.
pave's board corps program recruits area professionals who want to help improve educational opportunities in milwaukee by serving on the boards of high-potential, independent schools. Board corps members receive the best-in-class training for school governance. Pave then matches board corps candidates with a school and board that fits their particular skills and interests. To date, pave's board corps program has recruited, trained and matched 77 professionals to serve on pave network school boards.
