Mission: Citizens Alert was founded in 1967 by a group of concerned community activists to focus on restoring the integrity of Illinois' broken capital punishment system as well as fighting for the required videotaping of interrogations and confessions to reduce blatant police and prosecutorial misconduct and increase the reliability of the judicial system. We use coalition building and public advocacy to work directly for social change within the greater Chicago area. We serve as the "people's civilian review board" and work tirelessly for all victims of law enforcement abuse including some police officers who find themselves victimized by other police officers and/or prosecutors.
