Mission: The second oldest opera company in america, cincinnati opera presents dynamic opera productions every summer in cincinnati's historic music hall. (due to the construction at music hall, this season was presented at the aronoff center for the arts). Cincinnati opera is dedicated to educating, entertaining, and inspiring audiences by presenting opera performances, school tours, and community programs for adults and children that meet the highest standards of artistic excellence.
Programs: Grand productions included giacomo puccini's beautiful la boheme and wolfgang amadeus mozart's the magic flute. The opera's second stage initiative known as co2, presented the opera frida, based on the life of mexican painter frida kahlo. The opera's third stage initiative known as co next: diverse voices, presented the first opera in our history that was composed by a women, missy mazzoli. . . Song from the uproar is based on the life and journals of isabelle eberhardt. Total number of productions: 4. Number of performances:19 (11 performances sold-out). In fiscal year 2016-2017, over 139,000 people from 38 states and 8 different countries experienced cincinnati opera for performances at the aronoff center for the arts, and community events such as opera in the park, back to the zoo, and opera goes to church. In addition, the opera has three categories of experience designed to educate and inspire: lectures (also know as opera raps and opera insights), integrated classroom experiences and two dynamic touring programs, "the essentials and "the opera express. "
